  • Where is pin 1 located on the CN12 connector?

  • @michaeljudge88 Visit the thread linked in the video description, a picture identifying pin 1 is on page 6. Failing that look for the triangle symbol on the connector - that's where pin 1 is.

  • @ymboc Hi there, thanks a lot. I just found which was pin 1 using a multi meter and the 5v reference pins. Anyhow, I try soldering all the connections according to the diagram, but the VGA cable I was using was missing many of the ground pins. So needless to say I wasn't able to get a VGA signal to a monitor. I may just actually try and locate a PCI-E x1 card. Thanks for replying though.

  • @michaeljudge88 Solder your grounds together at the VGA end (so you only need one ground wire) -- should work.

What would you do with an x1 Card?... not on an MSS! or do you have an EasyStore?

  • @werner2210: Follow the link in the video to the mediasmartserver forums... there you will first find my thread that shows how to build you're own but you'll also see a forum-member selling completed debug-kits in the forum marketplace!

  • Hey guys, where can i get those adapters?

  • Hey guys, where can i get those adapters?

  • i would put freenas on it

  • @helloimgeek I have tried but it's not straight forward at this time.

I try it every major release and new series of nightly build when they're made available.

  • I wonder why they never made the MediaSmart have a VGA/DVI port in the first place? full-size rack servers (not that i'm saying the MS is weak) have VGA ports... Plus it must be annoying constantly running remote desktop connection.

  • It was meant to be an appliance... having a VGA port would invite users to break the software.

  • @ymboc ...Or enhance it! of course, that's already happened with the Custom-built board.

  • Wait, that's the MS without the case and hotswap bays?! The saying is true; big things come in small packages!

Too bad there's no native PS/2 or VGA ports, i'd rather work with it directly instead of signing on through my main computer.

  • Check out the MediaSmartServer Forum's Marketplace where a fellow user sells a custom-fab'd break-out board compatible with all mediasmart servers and acer easystore products.

  • @ymboc Yeah, i belive i've read about that on Home Server Hacks or something.

i Really hope i can get my Mediasmart for christmas!

  • I've been looking forward to getting one for a while now!

  • got pwned

  • huh?

  • All the info you seek is available from the linked mediasmartserver forums thread... including a fellow board member selling not only VGA cables but PS/2 & Com (Debug) Cables as well!

  • AMAZING WORK! Would you be willing to build a cable for a small fee or atleast show the specs for building it?

  • Men uncreadible, i by mistake desab;le my network connection on my ex470 by god youe way is the only way that i<am recevery my data. So can you tell my how to build your cable, i see that you build your own.
