The Beatles can definitely lay claim to being the most successful pop/rock band in music history. Yeah, they still hold the title for the most #1 records, and of course may other firsts' & onlys. But what makes them the most successful was their enormous creative & artistic range as songwriters & musicians (i.e. Harrison introducing the sitar to rock) not to mention extremely prolific, at least in the 20th century, & even up to this very minute. That is an indisputable & undeniable fact.
LOL Hasn't it been well established officially that they're the most successful band of all time? In total, the most successful. Pink Floyd may have the biggest ticket sales for concerts, but in total, the Beatles were still more successful.
PS. I love how Paul keeps shyly looking at John. x)
I'm not sure the Beatles are the most successful band in history -- has any other band been as relevant and popular for over 47 years? Who knows, maybe one of Beethoven's quartet's were popular for longer -- or maybe Bach's back-up dancers at his symphony's.
Maybe they aren't the most successful band in history -- they are still my favorite of all time. I can live with that!
@rgjerde53 I agree as to "maybe not the most successful band..." but the increased speed they took :Rock n Roll's format from simplicity to complexity in a 6 year span that totally blows my mind. I think 'did they cover 10 yrs, 15 yrs of changes in that span?' Change IS good but I like time to really enjoy it before the next one comes along. For me, perfect. It placed me with The Eagles, Led Zep, C.S.N.&Y., Skynrd etc
I'm not sure why they needed to play along with a tape of the song, they had everything they needed. They did the same with revolution on Smothers, very strange.
@simpleaudio yeah Revolution was definitely a con, look at what they are playing on guitar (nothing like what you hear)...even the singing is out of time...weird!

It's funny cause Paul seems to be distracted by something funny going. Particularly in John's direction. lol

I think those wide shots were to prove that it was indeed a live performance they taped for the Smothers Brothers and other outlets.

@simpleaudio I think it's just they way most TV shows did it back then. They had more control over what was happening.
