@bratzkidzrulz I think the subtitler did a good job. The subtitles aren't obnoxiously distracting and the translation actually makes proper sense without any japanese words standing in. Let me tell you, seeing a sub with random japanese words popping in can be a huge pain in the ass. Especially if you are uninitiated in a fandom

The first season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Don't be fooled though, it's not about a rock band full of chicks, it's more about a very willful girl who turns out to be God, and doesn't even know it. It's a great show, but if you're looking for an anime about girls in a rock band, may I also direct you to looking up a show called "K-On!" ?

In fact, this anime came in to TV at 2006, while K-On was done in 2009. Also, the light novel for Suzumiya Haruhi was made in 2003 while K-on!'s manga was started in 2007. Suzumiya Haruhi came first in every way possible. lol. It was actually my original opinion that K-On! was just a replication of this very Suzumiya Haruhi episode! XD

@hea4123 Angel Beats was an amazing anime, arguably one of the best that i've seen (next to bakemonogatari and Toradora) I agree with you that it had a better live scene but this scene was supposed to be unexpected so it fits better dont you think?
lol when I first saw Angel Beats, I was really close to judging it to be a Haruhi ripoff, what with the similar tsundere attitude and character designs, but the gorgeously scripted storyline got me to love it like crazy.

After the epicness of the songs, I didn't realize this, but just now I did. She's singing two amazing songs that make you break the replay button...while wearing a brown bunny suit.
Well great animation has always been around, for sure, but to have animation to this level on a regular broadcast TV series (not an OVA or movie) was pretty rare to come by around 2006. The crisp, clean, and fluid animation in high quality was seen more outside of the regular 24-26 episode series.
I always wondered if this episode had anything to do with the birth of K-ON!.
@aniki91344 haruhi might have been the cause for the birth of many "moe" shows :o But actually I just remembered when typing this, k-on actually started as a comic strip a long time ago, as well as haruhi being a novel, so yeah I don't think they impacted each other. :P
Hmm, well, you're probably right, but I still suspect, maybe the popularity of this episode cause directors to look for a similar genre to animate, and in there search, came across K-On! maybe? I dunno, just a thought.
@thunderdraco People who think Haruhi is all about moe didn't understand the anime at all, that's my opinion. Of course, this episode made KyoAni think, K-ON would be good to animate, it even made me think K-ON would be fun to watch, but since K-ON is just moe and nothing more, barely any concert seen, it's just plain boring. btw, K-ON impacted Haruhi S2 with it's blobby, jiggly face animation style, which i dislike.
I'm gonna have to agree with you. Borrowing certain elements for other anime is ok, but I seriously wish they wouldn't borrow elements that would end up killing it's integrity in the long run.
@ViroX89 I know you commented on this quite a while ago, but are you referring to the Melancholy of Haruhi Chan Suzumiya? That was based off of the parody manga which began before K-ON. Both the manga and the ONA used that style you don't like.
I'm not a fan of that style either, but I just wanted to say that Suzumiya Haruhi is completely original, even the parodies (:

I doubt this is the first time I saw animation like this. I really don't know why fans are so blown away by it. It's like jiggling shiny keys.

Well great animation has always been around, for sure, but to have animation to this level on a regular broadcast TV series (not an OVA or movie) was pretty rare to come by around 2006. The crisp, clean, and fluid animation in high quality was seen more outside of the regular 24-26 episode series.
I always wondered if this episode had anything to do with the birth of K-ON!.

@aniki91344 haruhi might have been the cause for the birth of many "moe" shows :o But actually I just remembered when typing this, k-on actually started as a comic strip a long time ago, as well as haruhi being a novel, so yeah I don't think they impacted each other. :P

Hmm, well, you're probably right, but I still suspect, maybe the popularity of this episode cause directors to look for a similar genre to animate, and in there search, came across K-On! maybe? I dunno, just a thought.

@thunderdraco People who think Haruhi is all about moe didn't understand the anime at all, that's my opinion. Of course, this episode made KyoAni think, K-ON would be good to animate, it even made me think K-ON would be fun to watch, but since K-ON is just moe and nothing more, barely any concert seen, it's just plain boring. btw, K-ON impacted Haruhi S2 with it's blobby, jiggly face animation style, which i dislike.

I'm gonna have to agree with you. Borrowing certain elements for other anime is ok, but I seriously wish they wouldn't borrow elements that would end up killing it's integrity in the long run.

@ViroX89 I know you commented on this quite a while ago, but are you referring to the Melancholy of Haruhi Chan Suzumiya? That was based off of the parody manga which began before K-ON. Both the manga and the ONA used that style you don't like.
I'm not a fan of that style either, but I just wanted to say that Suzumiya Haruhi is completely original, even the parodies (:
