From my interpretation, it's because Lara saved him. True, he was angry at her for what happened in Angkor Wat. During the events of Revelations, Lara saved Von Croy from being possessed by Set, I think being cleared of the corruption and finally seeing Lara generally cares made him want to save her. Plus, he was her mentor, there has to be a certain level of care still there.

TR6:AOD Shes brought back. Core wanted to kill off Lara , because they were overwhelmed with the franchise, but later on they regretted it and brought her back to life, making TRAOD. Then Crystal Dynamics takes over and created the 3 current games: Legend, Anniversary and Underworld.

@emmaminiepink That's....wrong. TLR was a cliffhanger, Chronicles is pretty much an extension of TLR's ending, and then in Angel Of Darkness we find out that she survived...somehow. She even calls Werner out on leaving her in Egypt. From Legend on, they use an alternate continuity from the previous games, which is part of the reason how they were able to do Anniversary.

the thing that azraelkhan...for some that may don't understand is that in TR5 Chronicles..you don't play the game as trying to get out of the pyramid...but that old men of Von Croy's retells journeys about Lara with 2 other guys....TR5 is a pretty cool game actually...and AoD too...:)

No, Lara *doesn't* die. In the original ending she gets trapped beneath the pyramid.

But, she escaped the pyramid sometime during TR5 and survived with the help of a shaman named Putai.

That tale was going to be told in flashbacks across the AoD trilogy, but she clearly survived since she's alive in AoD.

I doubt it could've been more than a couple of days to be honest. She likely found her way out, and dazed and disoriented was taken in by a tribe - or so we're told anyway. Von Croy kept searching for her, but she never knew - hence her animosity towards him at the start of AoD.

Well in the actual ending she doesn't escape and the pyramid collapses on top of her.

TR5 shows Von Croy finding her backpack, and TR6 showed she was indeed still alive.

Now the new games follow a different timeline and biography - but she didn't ever die.
