  • I've bought one, its cheap and awesome, perfect for beginners like me, the only negative side that it have only 2 octaves :/ so you hardly can play with 2 hands.

    still awesome product, regret nothing

  • what is this man playing in the video? I would like to learn this on my lpk!

  • just got mine, LOVE IT!! he did not mention, the keys are kinda 'gooey' feeling.

  • Does it senses the expression? I mean if pressed lightly or heavily.

  • @dragonliger yep it detects velocity

  • shits only two octives...

  • @WotWOfficial You can reach a full 88 key range using the Octave up/Octave Down buttons.

  • Alesis Q25 or Akai LPK25?

Real keys, mod & pitch wheel, data slider (Alesis) vs (Akai) more compactness (but sacrifice of regular-sized keys), arpeggiator

    Prices are the same.

  • LPK25 + Macbook Pro + Logic 9 = WIN :)

Love this keyboard, so portable but so usable.

  • does is come with software?

  • Will the arpeggiator sync to tempo sent via MIDI sync from my software (In this case Ableton Live), och is it completely on its own clock?

  • "Support" is non existent. I was on hold from 5:00pm until some guy finally picked up at 6:30pm to say you're closed. deduct 1 star.

There is no instruction to be found anywhere in the package, the web site or "software".

I expected to plug it into my usb port on either my mac or pc, and it play. No. I plug in the unit and install the software which looks like it was made for Windows 95, and midinfo box is preselected with LPK25, but I scroll to it anway, as instructed. Now what? Preset?

  • @LickMyBabyBack Press "preset 1", nothing... on iMac, I "load preset" I scroll through applications, Garage Band and open. Nothing happens. So I just open Garageband, and it works. So I shut down the "editor" software, and it appears I can use it without it. But I still have no idea what is going on. Please create videos starting from taking out of the box, putting in the plug and a screen of someone actually using the software while explaining the point of it. More info = less support!

  • @philliprawks. 2.4mm wide? Amazing! Think you might want something a bit smaller than this then! Besides I doubt Akai ship to Lilliput..

  • Any recommendations on cheap midi software that can easily be converted into usable sound files, that's compatible with this lil gismo?

  • Any recommendations on cheap midi software that can easily be converted into usable sound files, that's compatible with this lil gismo?

  • when i connected it to my laptop it said softwear driver was unable to install n it dosent up on fl studio its driveing me crazy i cant get to work (sorry 4 the spelling)

  • is there a way to add pitch bending or mix it with other hardware to get pitch bending....want one so bad but i want a pitch bending ability...i have a launchpad and a nanokontrol...can i map it on the lpk or use one of the other hardware i have? i dont really need arp so i could map it to those two buttons.... NEED AN ANSWER ASAP!!! thank you

  • @spontaneous09 Please contact us on our support page on our web site.

  • @spontaneous09

If you use Mixcraft 5, you can go to the program built into it called "Musical Typing" and use the "1" and "2" keys on your qwerty keyboard while simultaneously playing on your LPK 25. you can here that being done for the heavy synth lead in Blake Raines's "Live Your Life". Type "Blake Raines live your life" in on google. Its a good song.

  • Does this work with all later operating systems? Windows 7 etc. (it should work I guess)

If so I'm buying it =D

  • to small keys?

  • Really wish they'd make a 38 key version, with a tiny pitch/mod stick (they could probably use the same kind of stick you see on generic game controllers, as that wouldn't take up too much space). Keeping the mini keys and compact design, of course. That way, there'd be a full three-octave midi keyboard with pitch/mod that'd fit in a melodica case. Much more portable than the Korg MicroKONTROL, for example (which is the only 38 mini-key midi controller I know of). Come on, Akai! Make it so!

  • @Swenglish Self-correction: Turns out Korg have the MicroKey. Still, it's a bit thicker than it needs to be, Akai could easily make one that'd fit in a melodica case.

  • gosh! what stupid questions folks ask!!!

  • Comment removed

  • hey is what is better? this or the korg nanokey???

  • yea it works in fl

  • people seem to have huge problems with understanding midi, and it has been around for about 30 years. dang.

  • The mini keys put me off.

  • can u use headphones on the lpk25

  • I just bought one. Is it normal that the velocity sensitivity decreases at lower velocities, or should I take mine back? I have the feeling there are more step sizes from normal to fast velocity than there are for slow to normal velocity.

  • Hi there Eric, what are the actual dimensions of the LPK25?

  • can i use this LPK 25 for drum beats controller in using Reason drum kit 2.0?

  • This would be perfect... but seriously, where's the pitch bend??!??!??!?!?!?!?!

  • @VikingBodybuilding Have you ever hear from "automators" ?

  • check out ,my beat video!!!!!!

  • does this work with garageband?

  • the keys look a bit too small..

  • do you think it would work with Cubase LE 4?

  • Can this instrument control the MPC2500? does it only have USB?

  • Does this work in FL studio?

  • @KorruptGamers It should work fine. It works with anything that supports MIDI via USB.

  • i just recieved this keyboard and im having a bit of trouble getting it working. im able to use reaktor 5 and ableton 8. i have the software installed and am selecting the lpk25 on the startup when it asks me to select the input but it will not give me any sound in either program. help please :)

  • I understand it's a good bit of kit for traveling, but is there any other point in buying one of these if I already have a full sized MIDI Keyboard? Thanks. :)

  • @SeanIsaacBillings What you are looking for are virtual instruments, a.k.a. VSTs. But be warned, some VSTs require a digital audio workstation as a host in order to use them. There are, however, VSTs out there specifically designed to run stand-alone. KVR audio's website has a pretty good database of these (including free ones), but you can also buy them for a more (often than not) professional sound.

  • @josephjester hi can i use it with a recording software Cubase with vst plug ins without having a prb.

  • hello, can anybody help me! i just bought this and installed the editor software but when i open my daw or ezdrummer, it doesnt do anything when i press the keys. What do i need to do to get it to work!

  • @jesusismyr0ck you can try using for instance propellerhead reason, ableton, Fruity Loops Studio or some similar software. otherwise reason for not getting sound could be some problem with wiring, maybe it's plugged wrong.

  • @premier000 Hey thank you i had that figured out but i checked my preferences and reaper and blocked access to the usb and thats why it wouldn't work with that and it worked with other things, and seeing that reaper is my main daw and the others were just demos i was freaking out why i would work others and not there, but thinks for commenting; i feel kind of dumb asking now, Have a good day!

  • @jesusismyr0ck no prob man, glad u solve that issue. peace

  • This merks the Nanokey. Can someone say how big the keys are? fullsize keys should be 2.4mm wide. i dont think i could get used to a mini one, is there a similar product with full size keys available?

  • Can i use a midi keyboard without connecting it with PC?

  • haha this so beats the KORG NanoKey! great work, buying one in the next few days :)

  • is there any freeware programs that would work with this? I just want to try it before I go out and buy software! thanks

  • Im really interested in getting this. This is able to work with fl Studio rite?

  • @Blinkaholic It should, as long as FL doesn't have problems with MIDI via USB. It's been a long time since I've messed with FL Studio, but I think it worked with my Axiom on USB, if I remember correctly.

  • does it work on garageband?

  • This is a AWSOME midi keyboard! It does really well for anything, even studio work! its well worth more than 69 bucks.... Buy one now!!!!!!

  • i am definitely buying this;

added it to my amazon wishlist

  • how much does this thing cost??????

  • @gypsyvince14 49€

  • 65 USD is what i paid for it

  • @infloslinger thnx

  • $69

  • HIS HANDS ARE HUGE

  • could i connect the AKAI Lp25 to my kurzeil pc3x?

  • can the keyboard make other sounds or just 1?

  • This is a controller so it doesn't have any sounds of its own. The sounds come from your computer so you can use this to trigger any sound you like.

  • @4boocat there is no limit to the sounds you can play with it. You can download thousands from the web. some for free, some are commercial.

  • in 0:48 the keys look very loose when he pushes them...

  • does any one know if this will support the korg emx-1 via MIDI?

  • does it have to be plugged in to play or does it have built in speakers?

cause I don't always want to be recording on my computer, sometimes I just wanna jam in bed or something haha.

  • its only a midi controller, no built in sounds to this board. it has to control a software.

  • akai or korg ?

  • akai.. it says it on the top left of the controller

  • i've heard akai win the battle hands down

  • they failed to add transport buttons... epic fail!

  • @galaxytrip wtf i transtport button?

  • play, stop, rec, ff, rw... for recording in a daw environment.

  • is this like a synthezizer or just a midi controller?

  • midi thru usb

  • so can i use it to asa controller on fl studio?

  • yep, just ordered mine yesterday to connect it with fl

btw i also got the korgnanoKONTROL

proper combination for small money imo

  • do you recommend it?

  • i don't have it at home yet but its pretty good for its price from what ive read so far (everybody says its far better than the korg nanoKEY)

of course its no high-end studio-master-keyboard but it should be enough for writing down some ideas on the fly and have some serious fun

  • ok!

  • not really... you could of got the new m-audio oxygen 25 coming out in a few days.. and it includes led and most important transport buttons. it's about the same size of stacking two and it only requires 1 usb jack...

  • i have transport buttons on my korg nanoKONTROL and this one also needs only 1 usb jack...

    oxygen is still good tho

  • Totally different animal. Much larger, twice the price (Amazon), no arpeggiator, lots more controllers. Looks like a good deal if that's what you're looking for, and 25 keys is enough.

  • just be sure to select the right beast... some are a little more tame then they appear.

  • @skrollan do you know how to get FL to record with pressing the computer screen with ur mouse i cant figure it out with my midi

  • @skrollan like put those bars down without you clicking them if u know what i mean please reply

  • i dont think its possible

  • @NHbeats i think yes

  • i might buy one for the heck of it...

  • i just bought mine and tried it out, just amazing, words fail me...

what could have made it better is if they added some more keys

apart from that GREAT JOB AKAI!

  • I bought this product and I love it!!! its so easy and small and i just love love love it!!!

  • they just need a 30-32 key version... two octaves is just shy of a enough.

  • Looks cool

  • the korg nanokey is now officially dead.

  • lol. true

  • the price isnt posted anywhere on the web yet. whats the retail and/or map?

  • okay the guy said 69.99 in one of the videos i think this is wayy better then my cheap feeling nanokey i have the keys always break

  • @DrakeakaDrizzyfan123 The nanokey blows !!

  • retail is around 100 bucks

  • dear akai; i love you

  • It's one thing to blatantly rip off another company's great idea, it's quite another to do it better than them.

  • totally man my nanokey is always breaking like the keys always pop out its annoying
