I've bought one, its cheap and awesome, perfect for beginners like me, the only negative side that it have only 2 octaves :/ so you hardly can play with 2 hands.
"Support" is non existent. I was on hold from 5:00pm until some guy finally picked up at 6:30pm to say you're closed. deduct 1 star.
There is no instruction to be found anywhere in the package, the web site or "software".
I expected to plug it into my usb port on either my mac or pc, and it play. No. I plug in the unit and install the software which looks like it was made for Windows 95, and midinfo box is preselected with LPK25, but I scroll to it anway, as instructed. Now what? Preset?
@LickMyBabyBack Press "preset 1", nothing... on iMac, I "load preset" I scroll through applications, Garage Band and open. Nothing happens. So I just open Garageband, and it works. So I shut down the "editor" software, and it appears I can use it without it. But I still have no idea what is going on. Please create videos starting from taking out of the box, putting in the plug and a screen of someone actually using the software while explaining the point of it. More info = less support!
when i connected it to my laptop it said softwear driver was unable to install n it dosent up on fl studio its driveing me crazy i cant get to work (sorry 4 the spelling)
is there a way to add pitch bending or mix it with other hardware to get pitch bending....want one so bad but i want a pitch bending ability...i have a launchpad and a nanokontrol...can i map it on the lpk or use one of the other hardware i have? i dont really need arp so i could map it to those two buttons.... NEED AN ANSWER ASAP!!! thank you
If you use Mixcraft 5, you can go to the program built into it called "Musical Typing" and use the "1" and "2" keys on your qwerty keyboard while simultaneously playing on your LPK 25. you can here that being done for the heavy synth lead in Blake Raines's "Live Your Life". Type "Blake Raines live your life" in on google. Its a good song.
Really wish they'd make a 38 key version, with a tiny pitch/mod stick (they could probably use the same kind of stick you see on generic game controllers, as that wouldn't take up too much space). Keeping the mini keys and compact design, of course. That way, there'd be a full three-octave midi keyboard with pitch/mod that'd fit in a melodica case. Much more portable than the Korg MicroKONTROL, for example (which is the only 38 mini-key midi controller I know of). Come on, Akai! Make it so!
@Swenglish Self-correction: Turns out Korg have the MicroKey. Still, it's a bit thicker than it needs to be, Akai could easily make one that'd fit in a melodica case.
I just bought one. Is it normal that the velocity sensitivity decreases at lower velocities, or should I take mine back? I have the feeling there are more step sizes from normal to fast velocity than there are for slow to normal velocity.
i just recieved this keyboard and im having a bit of trouble getting it working. im able to use reaktor 5 and ableton 8. i have the software installed and am selecting the lpk25 on the startup when it asks me to select the input but it will not give me any sound in either program. help please :)
I understand it's a good bit of kit for traveling, but is there any other point in buying one of these if I already have a full sized MIDI Keyboard? Thanks. :)
@SeanIsaacBillings What you are looking for are virtual instruments, a.k.a. VSTs. But be warned, some VSTs require a digital audio workstation as a host in order to use them. There are, however, VSTs out there specifically designed to run stand-alone. KVR audio's website has a pretty good database of these (including free ones), but you can also buy them for a more (often than not) professional sound.
hello, can anybody help me! i just bought this and installed the editor software but when i open my daw or ezdrummer, it doesnt do anything when i press the keys. What do i need to do to get it to work!
@jesusismyr0ck you can try using for instance propellerhead reason, ableton, Fruity Loops Studio or some similar software. otherwise reason for not getting sound could be some problem with wiring, maybe it's plugged wrong.
@premier000 Hey thank you i had that figured out but i checked my preferences and reaper and blocked access to the usb and thats why it wouldn't work with that and it worked with other things, and seeing that reaper is my main daw and the others were just demos i was freaking out why i would work others and not there, but thinks for commenting; i feel kind of dumb asking now, Have a good day!
This merks the Nanokey. Can someone say how big the keys are? fullsize keys should be 2.4mm wide. i dont think i could get used to a mini one, is there a similar product with full size keys available?
@Blinkaholic It should, as long as FL doesn't have problems with MIDI via USB. It's been a long time since I've messed with FL Studio, but I think it worked with my Axiom on USB, if I remember correctly.
not really... you could of got the new m-audio oxygen 25 coming out in a few days.. and it includes led and most important transport buttons. it's about the same size of stacking two and it only requires 1 usb jack...
Totally different animal. Much larger, twice the price (Amazon), no arpeggiator, lots more controllers. Looks like a good deal if that's what you're looking for, and 25 keys is enough.

Alesis Q25 or Akai LPK25?
Real keys, mod & pitch wheel, data slider (Alesis) vs (Akai) more compactness (but sacrifice of regular-sized keys), arpeggiator
Prices are the same.

Will the arpeggiator sync to tempo sent via MIDI sync from my software (In this case Ableton Live), och is it completely on its own clock?

This is a controller so it doesn't have any sounds of its own. The sounds come from your computer so you can use this to trigger any sound you like.

@4boocat there is no limit to the sounds you can play with it. You can download thousands from the web. some for free, some are commercial.
