Its really sad. Soaps will never return to the way things were. GL is the beginning of the demise of daytime soaps. Characterization was a very strong aspect of these shows back in the day. They made you care for characters good and bad. Today they introduce characters and one month later they are either killed or just disappear. Veteran characters have been butchered and killed off for no good reason other than shock value. And storylines never get resolved, This song sums it nicely.

Wish everyone could experience the Doug Marland/Gloria Monty GH. THAT was the true golden period. They took a 45 min show, revamped everything (a tornado!), new sets, etc. Marland balanced regulars (Nurse Jessie, Dr. Steve, Audrey, Rick, Monica, Peter, Lee, Gail) with newbies (Laura, Scotty, Bobbi, Alan, Tracy, Edward--yes, Luke!) and made brilliant TV. Yes, Pat Smith's story brought Luke & Laura together romantically, but there was NOTHING to compare to the stories Marland told!

I've watched it for so many years and have missed seeing the charaters in the video like Robert, Anna, Shawn, Tiffany, Luke, Laura, Frisco, Felicia, Holly, Lucy, Tony, Bobbie, etc, and their never boring adventures. Now so many of the characters are dark, angry and depressing with murder and revenge on their minds all the time. Wonder how far they will let the ratings fall before they do a much needed overhaul on GH?
