  • im 19 and i listen to hardcore bands that scream and are what most people would assume to be "demonic" but for some reason ive always loved mandolin, mainly because of my dads love for led zeppelin and us listening to them so much together. im so intrigued by mandolins and i really really like this song and your playing style. so THANK YOU. haha

How bout some more blues mandolin???...

  • Sweet looking and sounding mandolin daddybo. You got it goin on.

  • This seems to be the best (Utube) example of what a National RM1 sounds like when well played. I use your videos as learning tools (mandolin blues). Really appreciate them.

    of that mando?

  • Hard Times coming up now apparently. But there'll still be music like this. 5 stars.

  • GORGEOUS tone, thanks for sharing

  • sweet stuff!

  • I just subscribed!

  • If a man did some editing to that audio that made it sound like an old 78, it would have fooled me. You've got that late 20s, early 30s white blues rhythm very well. People usually miss that rhythm and what they play sounds modern. Yours does not. Outstanding.

  • keep em commin dady!

  • Carl, this is absolutely brilliant ! Man, you make real fast progress on mandolin. This video is among the very best blues mandolin on youtube. Please keep them comming...

  • I like your playing very much!

  • fantastic!!! how do you ever learn to play a song like that?

  • sorry daddy, ran across "modern times":)

  • do you have "chicago/the blues/today/1965"? its the only one I got with the old blues mandolin. It sounds like you heard those boys.

  • Yeah, it has been reissued on cd. Check out the websites I mention in "more info" to learn more about blues mandolin.

  • NO--i GOT IT. WITH BIG WALTER HORTON. didn't mean the cap lock--yo9u reminded me of that mandolin--especially on stealing? i'm digging it outnow.

  • Beautiful!

  • that is good stuff pal

  • Give some strings to Daddystovepipe, then prepare yourself to feel GGGGGOOOOOOOODDDD!!!!

    Congrats!

    Chris

  • Brilliant, as always!!!

Surely time for Album #2 soon?!?! ;-)

  • Thanks, album #2 is in the making. It will be a cd about Blind Blake and Blind Boy Fuller. I will do 50% and Jim Bruce (Youtune label owner) will do also 50%.

  • Is there no end to your inspirational playing???

  • Great job as usual DS!

  • Not gonna lie.. this could be one of the best tunes I've heard you do yet..who would have thought the Mandolin could rock out so much.

  • Is this your first mandolin video? How long have you been playing? And where did you get the groovy background beat and harmonies???

  • Thanks all.

This is my first mandolin vid; I got the mandolin on ebay two months ago.

I recorded the backup guitar myself.
