hye, just to tell you: I now got Norton Internet Security 2009 full version, and it resolved my 3 problems:

1. Protecting myself from the Conficker bastard

2. Performance (2009 is faster than old crappy 2006 with the miracle of optimization)

3. I wasn't able to watch partner videos when I was on 2006 because of the ads in it being understood as spam or popup by Norton.

Now my rig works WAAAYY better.

Your obviously young, so I'll make this a SIMPLE as it can get. Sophos and AVG WON'T protect against Conficker. Conficker probably has a rootkit to stop antiviruses from running. Avira AntiVir protects against rootkits, and Norton 360 does protect against rootkits to.

I got this virus. It sucked. i could not enable my my antivirus , i could not log onto websites like windows update or security center. i could not go to antivirus webpages . it sucked. it hijacks your browsers and will not let you go to places that fix it. arrg . bastards =/

actually the makers are more than likely from germany or places of german prominence. the name comes from the words 'configure' and 'ficken', which is the german word for 'fuck', considering it fucks you up.

yeah, norton has been pretty bad for a while. But 360 doesn't have all the bad things anymore. I would reccomend downloading the ConfickerFix.exe from the description.

:O I created that site! I didn't do anything... Trust me, you need the fix thing to scan and remove. Avast! is also kinda sensitive. It once deleted notepad from my pac, and continued. then had to format :/
