Brilliant. My dog learned in a matter of minutes. I do have a question though. I picked a pretty generic release word: "ok." This has already caused some confusion. Is it too late to change the word to "break," or will that really mess her up?
You can always teach dogs something different. I had the same problem and decided to use the word "wait" instead of stay. Then I joined puppy kindergarten and they taught "stay"! so i decided to change the following. "lie down" and "stay" instead of "wait"...my dog is a pup so as long as im consistent from now on it shouldnt be a problem. Hope this helped!
I however emphasize that you teach only one thing at a time. Usually first duration- the amount of time the dog has to stay, and distraction. Teaching both at the same time is a little more difficult and more easily can confuse a dog.
