they have complex lyrics and music.... but live, their lyrics are still there but I'm not so sure about being complex. they're punk rock live but Isaac is a little too much for me out there if I were up front, so I stay in the back so I can hear everything he says.
i've seen them live before when i was completely in the front and the whole concert was static and little sound glimses from songs I knew but I couldn't hear very well.
As a machinery geek, I dig the fact they managed to make their song sound like a factory. They lyrics get in the way of the mechanical music, but the industrial imagery in it is pretty cool.
OH, it's always gotta be so modern all the time. Fact of the matter is, just all modern gets old to me some of the time. Its a great pair up of the lyrics and rythm with some of the footage of what your grandparents might have done in the better days of this country, where people actually worked towards a goal that shaped this country for your modern lifestyle. It's pretty cool to see some of that footage being used.
I agree. The person who made this video needs to ditch the 50's industry imagery, and perhaps try something more...modern? And if your making videos on a PC then it automatically isnt as good as it could be(honestly, media editing is one of mac's few fine points, so much so that all pro media editing is done on macs.
picture a 2 hr long, midnight drive from chicago to central illinois, and waking up to this song. i thought i was slipped some insane drug, but when i really woke up, i realized i loved it haha. modest mouse is amazing.
The two signature notes from Learning to Fly are similar to one of Steam Engenius's hooks...but the rest is a mash of funk and punk. Overall, brilliant guitar work...it's manic, bordering on rage...but still fun.
there are deffinally some songs i like on the new cd, but i was pretty dissappointed. i hate to say it but i just dont think its as good as good news, moon, long drive, or lonesome

I've only seen Modest Mouse live in the older shows and I must say, they were fucking awesome. I haven't bother with their latest shows because all the ticket costs are like waaaay out of my price range. Hearing other people saying that they suck live now... is quite shitty.

I love Modest Mouse. I'm tryin' to get ahold of their older stuff. It's alot more dificult in Australia. Even the Aussie Ebay site bearly has any of their older stuff. I can only get ahold of their latest two albums.

thats his opinion and he's allowed to say it. To be honest a lot of their old stuff are really realy really good. And at one point i didn't like their old stuff and only favored WWDBTSES and GNFPWLB, but as time progressed i started to love TLCW and other assorted old ones.

they have complex lyrics and music.... but live, their lyrics are still there but I'm not so sure about being complex. they're punk rock live but Isaac is a little too much for me out there if I were up front, so I stay in the back so I can hear everything he says.
i've seen them live before when i was completely in the front and the whole concert was static and little sound glimses from songs I knew but I couldn't hear very well.

As a machinery geek, I dig the fact they managed to make their song sound like a factory. They lyrics get in the way of the mechanical music, but the industrial imagery in it is pretty cool.

OH, it's always gotta be so modern all the time. Fact of the matter is, just all modern gets old to me some of the time. Its a great pair up of the lyrics and rythm with some of the footage of what your grandparents might have done in the better days of this country, where people actually worked towards a goal that shaped this country for your modern lifestyle. It's pretty cool to see some of that footage being used.

I agree. The person who made this video needs to ditch the 50's industry imagery, and perhaps try something more...modern? And if your making videos on a PC then it automatically isnt as good as it could be(honestly, media editing is one of mac's few fine points, so much so that all pro media editing is done on macs.

The two signature notes from Learning to Fly are similar to one of Steam Engenius's hooks...but the rest is a mash of funk and punk. Overall, brilliant guitar work...it's manic, bordering on rage...but still fun.
