ska bands love metallica, well at least 3rd wave ska bands like the supertones love metallica. I used to like the supertones being a middle school student, i listen to it now and feel so silly for listening to this stuff. Christian and ska punk music was huge back then.
@deathfallradio I am a 42 (soon to be 43) year old man who was into Supertones when they were new. I still listen to them and enjoy them greatly. Do not let your age, emotions, or pride or shame dictate what type of art or music you enjoy. Ska is, and was, very popular amongst the older generation (20s, 30s, 40s) for good reasons which I've no room to go into. Be passionate about what God gives you the enjoyment of. My 8 yr. old daughter loves S-Tones, Me? I love It's A Small World!
It's so funny. I never got a chance to see these videos and these were filmed right when I was totally into these guys! Those were the days, directly post-high school, 1996-1998 when these guys were the big thing. First saw them New Years Eve 1995, when Matt still had his hair! The real kicker was July 1996 after the first album came out and I saw them for my second time. I must've danced till my legs were ready to fall off! Good memories!
I vaguely remember going to see them in concert as a kid...going down into the mosh pit...and getting covered in spit from the frontman....nevertheless, it was awesome.
The opening riff of this song is almost exactly the same as the beginning of Creeping Death by Metallica (not that I listen to that band, I just saw a fact about that and found out it was true :D)
No...no, I don't. I don't have any bands. And all of these 'houses' you humans build for me? I don't really need them. I have a nice 1 bedroom apartment here in town. Every time I try to sleep in one of 'My' houses, the damn ministers keep kicking me out.
@AngeloftheRuse and you responded. calling the kettle black wouldn't you say? i don't pay attention to when the comments were made...only the stupidity of them. and i am not a troll. of course you will retort with some simpleton response that i'm not interested in hearing. so have a nice life.
OMG!!!!!!!I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!! i always listened to them when i was in middle school!!and i was so mad when they broke up...=/ i really miss their music
I am in no way shape or form A CHRISTIAN. But the supertones are fundamentally one of the greatest ska bands that has ever existed. Their message is a lofty one, but their music is so inspiring that it gives me ideas for all the satanic ska music that I want to make! Thank you supertones, and thank you jesus.
I think that this song is good and as long as they have fun singing it, it shouldn't matter if it's a "rip" or not. There are alot of bands that rip off songs and people think those songs are amazing. Rips don't matter!!!!
they obviously did that intro op purpose. I sounds exactly the same but slower to me. with the exception of the major horns instead of the minor in creeping death.
I had to see these guy with a christian rock band when I was 15....nothing is weirder than a show of uptight assembly of god christians refusing to move unless to pray...force youth group meetings led to forced concerts...I do have to say these guys were much funner to watch than the usual bands....
Metallica intro? Pfft! Wikipedia says that this is an "Exact Replica of Metallicas Creeping Death"
NO!
Metallica used minor 3rd harmony, whilst THIS songs intro used major 3rd harmony. Minor and Major are very diferent in my opinion, and are FARRRR from "exact replicating" at least..
Pfft. Shut up Metallica fans who don't know the difference.
I concur . . . man this argument reminds me of the time somebody said that MJ stole Mamase mamasa mamakusa from the song, "Please don't stop the music"
Metallicas riff was in minor 3rd harmony, whilst THIS Supertones song intro was done in major 3rd. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then shut up about how this was "copied" from Metallica, .....but you stupid Metallica fans are too stupid to hear the difference, and just scream COPY COPY!
Metallica fans are some of most gullible people too, they keep buying all of the best of albums and I can't even imagine how many times each song has been released and re-released a hundred times over.
If you prefer Metallica over the Supertones, then don't comment! Why did you even come on here in the first place? I think deep down inside you like the Supertones, you just don't want to admit it. You may like them even more than classic Metallica (mid-80s)...secretly of course.
to think like 10 years ago i got made fun of for listening to this and then one night at a party i found this cd at a friends and played it and every one told me how they used to listen to it all the time.
i didn't get into ska until all the ska bands were breaking up...i went to a supertones concert once before i knew who they were. it's going to be a lifelong sorrow i think.
With a lot of Christian bands, there are aspects other than the lyrics that secular fans of the genre complain about. But with the OC, there really isn't anything to complain about. A feel-good message with a feel-good sound. The perfect match.

The Supertones were awesome. To me, they were the fathers of Christian ska. I have to say that the band lineup in this video was when the band was most complete.
This video's always been my favourite, if only for the fact that Jason, the band's drummer, owns the video with his weird facial expressions.
omg i know he rocks i totally wrote like the same thing on my profile without even reading your comment! I love them they have the best music.....i went to their last concert they ever did and i was like so sad but like these other people loved them so mush they were like crying. SUPERTONES ROCK!
