Funny thing about this the gtr was close. Considering that slr had about double the torque dang near it. The f1 gtr naturally aspirated does the 1/4 mile 9 sec flat. Was still a good run though.

The thing is the GTR is 2x sometimes 3x cheaper than the cars it is put up against. "For fucks sake" race it against a Corvette CO6 not a Mercedes Mclaren SLR which is not 2, not 3 but 4 times the price of the GTR. Buggatis? forget about it that is just fucking dumb. Some Porsche's are in the price range of the GTR, and yes, they should compete, which they do. So stop complaining and understand that this car needs modification to compete with cars that are much more expensive.

look if i hwd money to blow i'd get me a renntech e63, these 2 cars are from 2 different league, the slr is a 300k car from amg group, that went thru a whole rebuild by renntech, gtr is 90k, plus wut ever was done which couldn't be much. considering stock gtr's runs 11's too. regardless good race on both ends. renntech cars are sick tho

What are the modifications done to the GT-R ? The wheels or the stickers? That was a stock Nissan. Stupid to say that this GT-R is modded when really its bone stock so you therefore make the McLaren look good. I'll tell ya it gave Renntech's McLaren a good run for its money considering the GT-R 1.07sec slower.

Agree that the GTR run is not optimum. We are big fans of the GTR; however, stock 2009 - 2011 GTRs trap 117 - 119 mph in the quarter mile.

125 mph trap speed does not happen with a stock 2009 - 11 GTR .

125 mph trap speed barely happen with a stock 2012, thus this 2009-11 GTR is modified to trap 125.

im sorry but the point was not the timing belt but the fact that the car spends its time in the higher rev range. Which does mean the engine will wear quicker. Look at race cars if you want proof. Extremely high RPM range, but limited usability. Engines are rebuilt sometimes after every race. That GTR wont pull the same after 200,000 but that mercedes will. Dont hate that your nissan lost to a SLR. It is still a beast.

How do you know the Merc will "pull the same" after 200K but the GT-R won't? You don't. You are an e-warrior with no visceral experience in either car. You are correct - they are both awesome cars. Factor in cost? Plus the Renntech mods? 5K will but you a Switzer P600 good for high 10's@128 MPH. An R1K? Low 9's @160 MPH. No hate - just...Peace.

Neither the SLR nor the GT-R are regular models in their brands respective line ups. They are supercars. The only difference is that the new 2012 GT-R is faster than the SLR.

A modified GT-R runs a 11.5 at 125 MPH? Were his "mods" exhaust?

The SLR is an amazing car however - with or without Renntech.

That said;

A Cobb tuned GT-R with a mid-pipe will run low 11's all day.

An E-tuned GT-R from any major shop with full exhaust will run high 10's.

A Switzer P800 would beat the Renntech SLR.

A Swizter R1K would devour the Renntech SLR, spit it out, eat it again and then poop it out.

Besides the obvious that you haven't driven either car (besides the PS3 GT5 format) - the mere fact you are comparing the two shows how great the GT-R is. In regards to racing, heard of the Super GT series? And finally, the transmission - that was from 2009 and was fixed. Back to the books junior.

GTR launches first and finish second. GTR has extremely gear ratio wich helps it on drag races, but its no match to the tuned up V8 with supercharger. Way to go McLaren! I´d love to see a cheapier SL55 on the strip too. SL55 with some weight reducing and pumped up engine should run low 11´s easily with drag radials. I believe 600-700hp is quite optimistic for a tuned SL55. ECU, pulley, exhaust, headers...
