I own a '88 Dodge Lancer with turbo performance. It's awesome. 100% stock and after 22 years with over 150.000 miles still one of the faster sedans on the road.
I love the comfort and handling of the car. It's no sports car but it's very steady and everything about its ride is so smooth. I only think the design is pretty ugly, I don't like the 80's style designs of most cars.
Amazing commercial. They don't make'em like that no more. Those ads make me really proud of America; the Chrysler beating the Germans, the song, etc. Simply amazing.
i had an '85 lebaron gts... wow. what a POS! the car died after 122k miles on the clock (and a lot of money spent to keep it alive that long!). the mercedes is probably still on the road.
The LeBaron was a very good car for the time. It was technologically advanced and it was styled to take on the best of Europe. Reliability improved after the 1987 model year.
@Herget It's called OVERSTEER. And yes, it is much easier to slide the tail of a rear wheel drive car like 190, that a front wheel drive car. That said, the only version of the GTS that could out slalom the germans had an optional suspension called Sport Handling Package II. This was a very hard riding suspension that corned well but rode horribly.
What's sad is that BMW's midsize sedan could not compete against the small 190E and Lebaron GTS

i bought one off my grandma, the turbo sounded just like a firetruck siren and it was loud. Anyone elses sound like that?

How is the 190E even comparable to the two? You would need a 300 E for that!

Lee Iococca should get the Nobel Prize for having 10 different versions of a K car on the road.

It was a very good design. If only the build quality had matched the foreign competition.

Is that James Earl Jones doing the voiceover in the commercial?

This is so over the edge. And I like it. :-)
But I doubt the Mercedes will swerve (ausbrechen) so quick.

I bet the test driver yanked the e-brake to swerve so suddenly.
