That is moronic to say that it is "unpatriotic" for residents of a city to object to extremely loud and unneeded military exhibitions. Unfortunately Chris Daly does not exactly make the best spokesman for this position though, and comes off as kind of a crank.

One mission of the military is for active recruitment to ensure each branch meets goals. We have an all volunteer service. If the military does not actively recruit, and fails to meet goals, than tax money is wasted on organizations that cannot accomplish their missions. And before you say it, although Iraq was a mess (and Afghanistan has become one), at no point have we LOST an engagement, in either. Not having these displays would be a disservice to the majority that want to see hardware.
Those damn jets flew very low over my apartment building for a few days in a row. So low that they shook my windows and doors. If they want to have an airshow, it should be over water or an airfield not over downtown San Francisco.

THere is no need for them.. and I agree they are very loud and annoying to to the Hundreds and thousands of residents of SF.
Well, we are facing this crises since the September 11, 2001 attack on the world trade center in new york city, people are becoming spooked because they think that these planes are being piloted by terrorists. It is not like the usual entertainment when we used to be thrilled by the dangerous stunts. Right now, its becoming more annoying and frightening.
It's about time SOMEbody brought up this issue. Does this have to be on the ballot so the majority of San Franciscans finally get a chance to say NO to the Blue Angel airshows that happens over our heads? How many more incidents like the one Daly recounts have to happen before people can just say no? To be continued...
