So do you run ads and get called to these ranches/farms to hunt for trucks or do you just hunt and then knock on doors? Or are these on public lands and offically "abandodned"?
How to di you get them legal again if you take the whole thing and restore it? I see all kind of trucks sitting in fields but never know how to determine if I can buy one or not.
I have a 1978 chevy swb 4x4 with a 4bolt main 350 could build a 383 BUT, . you guys ever run across any good or decent 454 motors that would fit in my truck would ye?
WoW! Can't believe you'd go thru all the trouble to get that 77 rusty chevy truck. We still use those goats for work and play here in Sunny Southern Cali.
Neither of those web sites have any thang on them I'm looking for a old 40s or50s model chevy or gmc ton or ton1/2 as long as it's got dullys on it (aka 4 wheels on the back) let me hear back from ya thanks
Beautiful truck! I would keep the moss that is growing on the side there, it shows what it's been through. Gives it some character, like rusty tractors.
it's been sitting next to the barn since 1995 that has a 350 4 speed 4 barrel I started a month ago for the first time primecarb new batte second crankry
Hey brother I need some parts off that old Datsun you got there. What year is that? I'll mail-order whatever ya got. I own a pretty nice 1970 Datsun PL521, but the front fenders are dickered.
Its a '78. The grille was the same, just like that one, for 77-78. But that one has a black stripe along the chrome trim on the sides. '77 had a yellow stripe. Either way, still a nice truck.
@k2guysalvia Just found out about a site last night. transamdepot d o t com .They're probably connected with F body part guys. Don't see many of those at all around here. Also consicuously missing are Buick Rivieras and Toronados from 79 - 85.
@ElderlyIron Just found out about a site last night. transamdepot d o t com .They're probably connected with F body part guys. Don't see many of those at all around here. Also conspicuously missing are Buick Rivieras and Toronados from 79 - 85.
@daniel198399 no, its a 1973-1978.....the front end isnt the 79-80, or 81-87----i own trucks from all over the 73-87 generation, i know....and grandpa owns a 1977 thats just like this, different color
@daniel198399 nawh ya can tell its pre-1980 by the front fenders the front end chrome and grille pinpoint the exact year of it on top of that. no flame intended but take a look at my '79 jimmy if ya get a chance
I think this truck wasn't sitting there for as long as they make it out to be. When they pulled out the tailgate that was all burried if it really sat for as long as it would have taken for that dirt to pile on it all that would remain of it would be a bunch of rusty scrap metal. I think it was staged to look like it sat for decades. still a neat video though
@mikee286 To the contrary. This is southern Oregon. Things just don't rot here like other climates. Go to the elderlyiron website and type 63 Buick Invicta in the search. Take a look at the condition. That car sat in one place since 1973. Being from Ohio, I love the solid condition of all this "elderly iron". What you saw on the tailgate was mostly pine needles. It was setting on a truck cap as well. Not on the ground.
@ElderlyIron Oh I c, things where I like return to nature much faster where I live and metal rusts quickly especially if it gets covered with dirt. In the forest behind my house there is an abandoned 1950s-60s era pickup truck and it's got trees growing all around it and is in very bad shape the box is completely rusted away and you cannot open the doors an windows are gone aswell. The harsh canadian environment has taken its toll on it and several othr abandoned cars and farm machinery there
@mowat440 I love it that way. Bought a '77 last Spring and had to send it to the crushers b/c the code enforcement Nazi's in my county think they are the guards and we are their prisoners.
