instead of feeding them wet catfood, it's better to feed them some special baby bird formula at any local pet store. My friend's dad has a whole pigeon coop that holds up to 30 pigeons or more. they obviously mate every year. most of the pigeon parents feed their hatchling for not as long as other birds, so the pigeon person has to care for them. this stuff could be expensive, but thanxs to my friends dad's generosity, he gave me enough of this baby bird formula when i caught a baby robin :)
O.K I forgot to update the info in the description. Two robins survived and made it into adulthood at the London Wild Care Centre in Croydon. Thanks for their help.
So far I'm glad to say that my three cats havn't caught anymore birds...Just the odd mouse. Although Snowy the little white cat goes through the motions of trying to catch the local heron...I'm not sure what she would do if she managed to get close to it :)
i have a baby robin and it was not opening it's mouth to eat then i played this video to it and it was reacting to the robins calls and was opening it's mouth and is now eating. i want to know what you was feeding them so that i could feed mine with what you was feeding yours
@theecowarrior Glad to hear that the video helped. I was feeding them cat food mixed with water. I found that if they didn't open their mouths then a very slight tap on the container seemed to do the trick. They settled down for the night, but as soon as it was daylight they wanted feeding...A small amount every 15 minutes shoukld be O.K...Try not to over-feed. See some info in the description.
