@ chainrunner, The VQ motor is one of the best rated motors out there, from the VQ35 that started in 03 all the way up to the present VQ37's, not to mention 287 wheel out of a 3.5 isn't horrible, power isn't strictly based on how many liters a motor is...and 287 isn't what it used to be which is exactly why the power had been bumped up ever since...and with a legit forced induction setup, although expensive the VQ shows incredible numbers for a V6. So there isn't much room to talk trash..
anyone thinking that Z motor is good better wake up. 287 ponies from 3.5 litres is awful. I had one and it was S L O W...sounded splendid, but slow. Displacement isn't what it used to be. Honda makes 2litre engines that put out 220 to 250hp at the crank with stock tuning.
In fact, with my N/A untuned 2.0 litre 4cyl, I had even run with a 270z last night. I was on winter tires though and he wasn't.
In the 1/4mile with r-compound tires I can take most OEM V8's. Including a Challenger srt8.

I have owned an srt4 with 350 fwhp and I currently have a stock 350z and wouldnt go back to the srt4 simply the z looks better and Engineered better then the srt4. The only thing I would like better is the turbo chirp. Sex for the ears

Fairladys can easily smoke most cars on the road stock and with a turbo/super it could compete with another level of cars, .... It is possible for a stock exhaust to have better hp than am becuase of the pure engineering nissan does, the v6 in that car is one of the easily and well refined v6s on the market and it wouldnt suprise me that theyve tuned the exhaust to create a perfect back pressure
