@gamersinformer That was an F-14 Tomcat. The pilot overstressed the cababilities of the plane while doing a Supersonic flight. It exploded. Luckily it didn't engulf the entre plane and the pilot ejected.

That's a real P-38. That's probably one of Lefty Gardener's planes.

We do have replica planes out there, but they're half-scale, are made completely from aluminum, and the biggest one they've got the tooling or plans for is STILL a single seat fighter. You won't see a replica P-38.

it exploded because it broke the sound barrier. Whenever something goes past the sound barrier, it creates a sonic boom, which creates A TON OF DRAG and SHOCKWAVES. Probably the f-14 was weakened somehow or was old. Also, if you noticed the white cloud around the airplane, that's water condensing due to the shockwaves. You're actually looking at a sonic boom.

I think the F14 pilot opened wings at Mach 1.0 and he over stressed the canopy. It is dangerous to flight at high speed near ground especially above sea. Because the air is denser and there are too much turbulences. I'm neither a pilot nor a soldier but I saw the thin line between logic and bravery

no, that was the test flight of a plane with an automatic landing system. i.e, pilot did not have to land it manually. the test was carried out remotely with no people on board, and the project, i believe, was discarded after this crash.
