all you have to do is move a whole step up on your fret board and down one string. Like if your playing on D (5th Fret) on the A string then you play on B which the 7th fret on the E string. Or if your playing in the Key of G (3rd Fret on the E string) then you find the octave which is the 10th fret on the A string and follow the same steps. Which would be E (12th fret on the E string). That's how I learned.
