Funny that even with E3 2010, people are still upset about the existence of casual games, but now it's the 360 owners who are upset because Kinect has a lot of casual games and nongames so far. The Wii owners are absolutely ecstatic about getting Donkey Kong Country Returns, Epic Mickey, a new Goldeneye, Kirby's Epic Yarn, the 3DS, and after 19 years, a new Kid Icarus game and much more. Many users say that Nintendo had the best press conference, and Microsoft's was horrible.
I am a harcore gamer and not one from the Snes era. I came in at N64 (and before I hear it, because I do: I'm very sorry I was born a decade late) and PS1 era and have pretty much stuck with the PS all the way.
To my point: I L-O-V-E the Beatles. Seriously. They are just behind Bruce Springsteen in my list of favorite bands of all time (and Bruce is number 1). So while I don't know if it would have gotten so much press, don't assume we don't love the Beatles.

Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned in an interview that if they were to include Wario, they would of had to have somehow include a farting mechanism for him. I realize that was mostly a joke, but still, come on, none of the other characters have special traits, so, why not include Wario?
that's the point. Including a character that has special traits (such as Wario's farting or Peach's floating) would have made the characters unbalanced and this was a game that Miyamoto wanted EVERYONE to be able to pick up and play and have no advantages or disadvantages with the characters.
Personally, I think they should've gone with Wario and Waluigi for NSMBWii.
Wario already kicks enough ass, and it'd give them the opportunity to actually give Waluigi some usefulness, and maybe even *gasp* CHARACTER, outside of being Luigi's Wario.

Im getting sick of the "Team Ninja+Samus=Sex Fan-service" argument. Ninja Gaiden is what they seem to be baseing Other M on. Sure, Ninja Gaiden DOES have some Sex Fan-Service, but that was only in the new PS3 remake of Ninja Gaiden 2 360.

For all games of this type made in the last 4 years and possibly the next 4, God of War is game zero, the game that everyone is trying to copy. All the things that modern games of this type, QTE, Platforming, Action sequences, vehicle section, were first perfected in the GoW series.

I think I agree with him on this one. I can't think of any other [Trade Show] where businesses are complained about because the fans don't like not being the targets of the presentations, since it is directed at the investors and other companies that deal with them. So you are wrong there.

Am I the only one that thinks it's stupid that people think of the fanservice instead of gameplay whenever they bring up Nintendo and Team Ninja working together. When I heard of this I first thought of Ninja Gaiden not that stupid volleyball game that was just a spin-off.

Moviebob, GREAT video, and GREAT point about how Team Ninja will handle Samus Aran. I do think however that Nintendo will keep them in line and ensure that she is being displayed appropriately. They make DAMN sure that when 3rd parties develop one of their games, that the integrity of their characters is kept solidly intact. Look at Super Mario RPG by Square. I don't think you have anything to worry about :)

Mario does "kick ass" he's kicked ass longer than Master Chief ever was thought up. The whole point of a Mascot is to have it welcoming and (dare I say it) a bit cartoonish. Before Master Chief the general consensus started with Mario. XBox and PS3 need a mascot that welcomes younger generations into the gaming world.

I'm surprised you like New Super Mario Bros Wii. To me, it looks like a party game with Mario-paint (not the game) slap-dashed on it. During it's excrutiatingly fawning E3 showcase, i saw..what...5 enemies in the entire level. Oh, that's not the point of the game, it's collecting coins and maybe killing your friends.
Sounds like a Mario Party Game rather than a Wii version of it's DS' namesake.
Anyway that's how I feel about the game. I won't be picking it up unless i hear AMAZING things.
Microsoft certainly went the extra mile during this veritable triple threat match. But I'm not convinced on Natal, nor Kate & Milo, especially when Molyneux of all people start to talk about it. Since it's obvious Natal is all about snagging some casual gamer pie, a market which is to say unstable at best. Not that Sony were hitting highs of innovation but at least their motion controller seemed to be more useful when it comes to "traditional games", instead of a gimmicky peripheral like Eyetoy.

Personally I was thinking the opposite about New Super Mario Bros Wii since (despite the title) its not new in any way shape or form. You half-appraised Metroid's step into the NEW but I could care less about playing a platformer like mario with other people (Little Big Planet?) and would rather just play the original Super Mario Bros games for NES than this incarnation for Wii. If they decided to use retro graphics, it would be the same as Mega Man 9 which was: just a failure to grow.
Argh, no love for Golden Sun DS again. Normal fans went insane with joy but no reviewers seems to care about it. I think the only ones who mentioned it at all were X-Strike Studios, and they mention it offhand.
For me it was Scribblenauts, Golden Sun DS, and the Wii Super Mario Brothers that stole the show.

It's most certainly not a, "Teaser." Beyond that, at least the later half of the trailer is pure gameplay, with perhaps some added camera angles. It's all real time. The trailers for Shadow of the Colossus and ICO were always in real time. Team ICO just makes their graphics that good.
Have you seen/played ICO? The main mechanic of that game is to hold hands with a useless girl and drag her through a castle to free her. In Shadow of the Colossus, half the game is simply riding horseback across desert wastelands. And it's amazing. And the things you mentioned will be game mechanics. Tell me: What games do YOU like?

I know a lot of people are kinda skeptical because Molyneux is making Milo, but you have to remember he used to make good stuff back when he worked for Bullfrog. actually the xbox camera is nothing like the wii and more like the sony eye toy which they had since the ps3 and the ps3 is taking the wii mote "design" however the wand is at less to me just an update to the eyetoy a thing they should have done since the begaining and to just speak as a fanboy for sony and to final say my last peace of how they didn't steal the wii ideas " old issue sorry" the ps1 even had a six axis controller and combined with the eye toy also made before the wii.

Wii, out of the three, i thought lost. It showed no real original content, just improvements or newreleases of the old. Both Sony and Microsoft had new games, hardware, and styles of games (i.e. girl games).

totally agree with you in the two toads thing. they're support characters, and awesome ones at that, but holding them as equals to the mario brothers just doesn't seem right.
One reason they're using 2 Toads might be to make their plainness reasonable.
In NSMB for DS, Mario and Luigi were exactly the same aside from appearance and animations. I think they will make all 4 players the same, for this reason as well as to make it fair for everyone. Having Peach or Wario playable- and being so bland -would feel odd and piss off many. So just take the Toads; it's for the best.
I really owe you a huge thanks for the service you do the community. I may not have entirely the same tastes that you have or agree entirely with your opinions but I do know for a fact that your videos are unique and intelligent. They are something that the gaming community needs to stay in the real word and not just the internet forums. Hate to break it to ya, but samus has been a fanservice character since metroid 1. I mean she takes off more and more clothing as you beat the game quickly enough. In fact the only games that don't have special bikini endings to reward you for finishing quickly(lets not look to deep into that) are the prime games.

Bob's whole point is to try to get people to THINK before they open their claptraps, in this case he's trying to get gamers to realize that the industry has grown and we can't expect it to revolve solely around our own little worlds anymore. I think I agree with him on this one. I can't think of any other [Trade Show] where businesses are complained about because the fans don't like not being the targets of the presentations, since it is directed at the investors and other companies that deal with them. So you are wrong there.
As for your Movie theater and restaurant, you can complain, because they are geared for the CUSTOMER, That means you. Thus if it fails to please you then you have a right to complain.

Moviebob, GREAT video, and GREAT point about how Team Ninja will handle Samus Aran. I do think however that Nintendo will keep them in line and ensure that she is being displayed appropriately. They make DAMN sure that when 3rd parties develop one of their games, that the integrity of their characters is kept solidly intact. Look at Super Mario RPG by Square. I don't think you have anything to worry about :)

Mario does "kick ass" he's kicked ass longer than Master Chief ever was thought up. The whole point of a Mascot is to have it welcoming and (dare I say it) a bit cartoonish. Before Master Chief the general consensus started with Mario. XBox and PS3 need a mascot that welcomes younger generations into the gaming world.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii looks the same as the DS game, but hopefully they add something more. They're probably hiding something from us.
As for Other M, as long as they don't turn Samus into Laura Croft (now that she's a sex symbol rather than a female main character; I don't mind her being "sexy," but a bathing suit would be a bit much for "Nintendo" [that's why we have fan fiction, AMIRITE!?]), & the gameplay doesn't suck, it's good. I really wonder what direction they'll take with it...

I laughed and wtf?ed just as anyone else did when I saw the game's debut.
But it doesn't bother me too much, I know what to expect from Zelda games, especially a sequel of the last installment on the exact same platform
What does bother me is where is the series really going? After breaking their "one Zelda per year" streak they had going all we have now is new Zeldas consisting of sequels of old ones. Just like Mario Galaxy 2 and NSMBWii. Really, Team Ninja doing Metroid is all we can hope for.

I'm surprised you like New Super Mario Bros Wii. To me, it looks like a party game with Mario-paint (not the game) slap-dashed on it. During it's excrutiatingly fawning E3 showcase, i saw..what...5 enemies in the entire level. Oh, that's not the point of the game, it's collecting coins and maybe killing your friends.
Sounds like a Mario Party Game rather than a Wii version of it's DS' namesake.
Anyway that's how I feel about the game. I won't be picking it up unless i hear AMAZING things.

Microsoft certainly went the extra mile during this veritable triple threat match. But I'm not convinced on Natal, nor Kate & Milo, especially when Molyneux of all people start to talk about it. Since it's obvious Natal is all about snagging some casual gamer pie, a market which is to say unstable at best. Not that Sony were hitting highs of innovation but at least their motion controller seemed to be more useful when it comes to "traditional games", instead of a gimmicky peripheral like Eyetoy.

Personally I was thinking the opposite about New Super Mario Bros Wii since (despite the title) its not new in any way shape or form. You half-appraised Metroid's step into the NEW but I could care less about playing a platformer like mario with other people (Little Big Planet?) and would rather just play the original Super Mario Bros games for NES than this incarnation for Wii. If they decided to use retro graphics, it would be the same as Mega Man 9 which was: just a failure to grow.

Argh, no love for Golden Sun DS again. Normal fans went insane with joy but no reviewers seems to care about it. I think the only ones who mentioned it at all were X-Strike Studios, and they mention it offhand.
For me it was Scribblenauts, Golden Sun DS, and the Wii Super Mario Brothers that stole the show.

Ok, I think I get what Matt was trying to say, so I'm going to try and put it in a way that's logical and hopefully non-offensive.
There is no 'fashion gene', but seriously, if you look at most clothing stores and go into the two sections of the store, on average you'll see the following.
Men's section: basic, formal,semi-formal,casual,etc stuff. No fancy designs or colors just the stuff you see on the street.
Female section: Just about everything.
The xx have a bigger holding. That's it.

It's most certainly not a, "Teaser." Beyond that, at least the later half of the trailer is pure gameplay, with perhaps some added camera angles. It's all real time. The trailers for Shadow of the Colossus and ICO were always in real time. Team ICO just makes their graphics that good.

Have you seen/played ICO? The main mechanic of that game is to hold hands with a useless girl and drag her through a castle to free her. In Shadow of the Colossus, half the game is simply riding horseback across desert wastelands. And it's amazing. And the things you mentioned will be game mechanics. Tell me: What games do YOU like?

--J-RPG's
--Stealth games
Team ICO always has a few game mechanics that aren't fun, but don't hinder the gameplay much.

I know a lot of people are kinda skeptical because Molyneux is making Milo, but you have to remember he used to make good stuff back when he worked for Bullfrog. Personally I don't know where I would've found a lot of my play time on my current PC which is pretty low quality without such productions as Magic Carpet and Dungeon Keeper. Maybe he's just in a bad valley. lol Either way I bet you could alter your date, it would be a great development if we could actually create A.I IMHO.

You know, I really didnt give the fact that there are two Toads in the game a second thought until now... indeed, what is up with that? Like you mention, the inclusion of one of the princesses would have been a more interesting choice, and a cool shout-out to SMB2.

actually the xbox camera is nothing like the wii and more like the sony eye toy which they had since the ps3 and the ps3 is taking the wii mote "design" however the wand is at less to me just an update to the eyetoy a thing they should have done since the begaining and to just speak as a fanboy for sony and to final say my last peace of how they didn't steal the wii ideas " old issue sorry" the ps1 even had a six axis controller and combined with the eye toy also made before the wii.

Little something to add thats slightly unrelated:
Wii, out of the three, i thought lost. It showed no real original content, just improvements or newreleases of the old. Both Sony and Microsoft had new games, hardware, and styles of games (i.e. girl games).
PS: for those that want to "hate" on me i own a Wii, so no saying im a fan boy

totally agree with you in the two toads thing. they're support characters, and awesome ones at that, but holding them as equals to the mario brothers just doesn't seem right.

One reason they're using 2 Toads might be to make their plainness reasonable.
In NSMB for DS, Mario and Luigi were exactly the same aside from appearance and animations. I think they will make all 4 players the same, for this reason as well as to make it fair for everyone. Having Peach or Wario playable- and being so bland -would feel odd and piss off many. So just take the Toads; it's for the best.

I really owe you a huge thanks for the service you do the community. I may not have entirely the same tastes that you have or agree entirely with your opinions but I do know for a fact that your videos are unique and intelligent. XD 100% agreed. Though honestly I have my reservations about the Natal, I'm glad to see Sony doing with their Wiimote what Nintendo SHOULD have done (FLIP THE CAMERAS AROUND).

Hate to break it to ya, but samus has been a fanservice character since metroid 1. I mean she takes off more and more clothing as you beat the game quickly enough. In fact the only games that don't have special bikini endings to reward you for finishing quickly(lets not look to deep into that) are the prime games.
