I was going to message you with this, but perhaps others would be helped by this too...you need to read "Butch is a Noun" by S.Bear Bergman, and go listen to or read some of Ivan E Coyote's books. Google her. The confidence and comfort comes over time and learning about yourself, it's not instant and many of us have been where you are Ash. Yes, I struggle with body issues as well, still today. sometimes the confidence is nothing more than a veil for our fears and discomfort, it's cover up!
I'm not Butch identified but I am a transman and I relate a lot with you about what ur feeling. When u said your having a hard time loving your self I could relate! You can accept yourself and say this is who I am but loving your self because of you are, is hard. As far as you not being able to talk about body issues I'm down to talk any time. Congrats on your new relationship btw.
