  • Watch all the vids of Gary Kahler setting em' up, Proper setup = no issues.

  • is it possible to replace the kahler bridge with an original floyd rose?

  • @HerrDehumanized I`ve never tried but I think it is possible to swap a kahler for a floyd. Unless someone knows for sure if you check the routing templates that would tell you for sure.

  • @HerrDehumanized Technically yes, but why not buy a guitar with a FR already on it?

  • nice video i am surprised kahler after all these years hasn't really upgraded there tremolo. they sound terrible i mean i can get my can get a non locking trem to stay in tune pretty well and it cost like 35$. but they want people to pay like 350$ for a kahler. no thanks lol

  • @guitarnub3 lol i mean to put 150

  • i have solved the bending/diving issue by using Big Bends' String Sleeves (cut in half), so that THEY ride the cam, & NOT the strings. i no longer have ANY probs switching between finger bending & whammy diving, and i don't even have a string lock on my lp/sg. as an added precaution, i VERY occasionally use big bend's nut sauce where the string sleeves curve around the cam. trust me, i have had NO tuning issues since doing this! i can bend & dive ALL DAY LONG, & stay in tune...

  • @badmuddy, you deserve a paycheck from Big Bends!!!! How exactly do you do this? You've got to make a video and post it as a response to all those other crappy videos (mine included) about Kahler's bending issues!! Let me know how it's done!!!! Awesome!!!

  • i FINALLY got a zoom q3 for xmas, so i WILL (at some point) get around to makin' a vid of my method. btw, i ALSO finally (FINALLY!) worked out how to increase a kahler's vol/sustain, & it's quite simple & elegant in design. i've done mine, though i did it using junkyard (4 lack of a better descript) parts', & it does NOT look elegant in it's current form. it IS gonna require the casting of it's parts (well, at least it's main component); the good news is that it SHOULD be only 3 parts totally...

  • @badmuddy AND, it increases the unit's sustain & volume CONSIDERABLY (& measurably)... & i've also created 2 secondary attachments for some alternate methods of whammi-fyzin'/whamm-utizin'! VERY usable, and to the point of eventually feeling naked without 'em...

  • how high are the bends u do that make the string go flat?

  • @geicowithdagheko1 on the low e, a, and d strings 1/2 step will come back in pitch but anything more will come back flat. For the high e, b, and g 1 1/2 comes back flat.

  • I have the same problem with mine. The biggest problem is how guitar companies install kahlers on guitars where the necks angle back slightly. This causes the saddles to be too high. If a kahler is in a set neck or neck through guitar, the neck angle needs to be very shallow so the saddles can sit lower.

  • @guithero11

Kahlers actually need some neck angle to set up properly. If the guitar had a straight neck, the rollers will always be too high. Having some neck angle offsets that problem. BTW, the whole thing with the rollers having to be low is total bullshit. I do the opposite on my guitars and actually crank them really high. The string sounds much better this way. If they're too low, the strings can pop off the roller.

  • Man!

    Try Lithium lubricant

    it beats chapstick by far!!!

  • Never heard of it, where can you get it?

  • @Infmda488

    Ebay ;)

Lithium lubricant pencil easy as hell. But you haft to solder the strings still!

And i recommend you have the fine tuners tight as possible! I was talking David Shankle he just said to me "Buy a new one if it goes out of tune." LOL great advise....

  • Doesn't David Shankle use Kahlers?

  • @Infmda488 Yeah i thought

If they go out of tune, why do all the big whammy abusers use them. I said "How do you keep a kahler in tune" he said "It keeps itself in tune." then i said "But mine goes out of tune" then he said "Thats not good man. Buy a new one." DMO done just that. still broken so weird.

  • That's not a huge endoresment of their quality control, but hopefully honest, yet expensive, advise. Thanks.

Did you see him at NAMM?

  • @Infmda488 Naah man, i talk to him on facebook and myspace.

You can also talk to Michael Angelo Batio as well.

And it is the real shankle because you can arrange to have a lesson with him VIA webcam.

$100 a lesson though. Highly recommend having a chat with him mate.

  • I lubricate the rollers, solder the windings, use a little chap stick and stretch the strings out. Whammy for little while

Tune it up. I do that 3-4 times

And i have no problem with that point on. Awesome review!

  • Thanks for watching and the kind words. The DMO solution is only about a 90% fix for the kahler that I have but it's pretty darn good, unless you doing crazy bends on the same string you won't notice any pitch change, usually.

  • @Infmda488 Yeah true its 90% But if your have a tremolo you'll want to use it for Leads for the sake of having a tremolo. Its kind of like having a 7/8 string guitar but never using the 7th or 8th string! Or 27 fret guitar but you only use it for rhythms

If you don't want to do all the soldering get 8 usa quarters put 2 at each corner of the tremolo (raises it higher) No tuning problems then. I wonder how to officially stop the problem.

They should explain it on the website.

    Great vid ;)

  • You're 100% right, it's a something that you need to adapt your playing too, big bend ='s dive bomb, which you shouldn't have to do. I've looked everywhere for the solution. If you find it let me know.
