  • I feel like i'm watchin scooby-doo.

  • i see sweet lou all the time. he lives in my hometown and did a speech at my middle school when i was a kid. i see him at mcdonalds and just random places around town. it's pretty cool.

  • this reminds me of those mgm pre-war racist black cartoons of the 30's and 40's jis slightly updated for your viewing pleasure lol

  • CLASSIC CARTOON!!

  • aoooooooga! aoooooooooooooooga! now dig this! instant classic!

  • Oh Hanna Barbera! What have you don to cartoons?!!

  • Futurama stole this!!!!

  • @Groth1175

You realize the Harlem Globetrotters are actual people right?

  • @link991 Yes! and much like the Robotic Three Stooges HB also did, this cartoon has almost nothing to do with anything.

  • I'm surprised i can still type this considering that my brain is now a liquified mess spread out all over my keyboard.

  • Why did they put those guys on the roofs anyways?

They didn't even do anything except warp over there : I

  • I loved this show as a kid. But did you notice something the good guys are black and the bad guys are white. What if it was the other way round?!

  • It was at 0:41 that I completely lost my shit and fell over laughing for some inexplicable reason.

  • He put them on a roof? They can just take the stairs down... Maybe rob some people on the way down. Great job, Globetrotters. Tsk tsk tsk.

  • the supermen could never beat these guys in basket ball

  • his head's a basketball.

    A FUCKING BASKETBALL.

  • This is awesome!

  • I wish I had Curly's powers. I've always wanted to remove my arms and legs, and then have people slam my enlarged head into the ground repeatedly. It's the most useful power ever!

  • @foodlovingpig lolz

  • I cannot stop watching them boogie at 0:40. I'm completely hypnotized.

  • @Beelzebibble now i can't lol

  • Nah...didn't put no toot in my trumpet. Gimme the original 1970 series any day... :^|

  • It lookslike pleakley from Lilo & Stitch At 0:30.

  • one of my favourite childhood cartoon

  • I remember staying up till midnight once when I was younger, and this show happened to come up on Cartoon Network (don't remember if it was before or after The Gary Coleman show). The opening has got to be one of the funniest things i have ever seen.

  • I thought this was a cartoon version of The Commodores!

  • oh how far we've come since then...

  • This is the greatest show ever

  • I used to live for Saturday morning cartoons and knew all of them, even the ones I didn't watch. I must have outgrown them about the time "Super Globetrotters" came along because I remember wondering how stoned someone had to be to come up with it. Then I thought back to "Lidsville" & "H.R. Pufnstuf" and figured out a LOT of people had to be stoned.

  • I am seventeen years old, and I remember watching this show when I was young. I also remember watching other groovy shows. This show used to be on Cartoon Network in the 1990s. I believe it is now on Boomerang. Anyhow, thanks for uploading this video. It brings back nostalgic memories of when I was young. :)

  • AMAZING CARTOON !!!! HANNA BARBERA IS TRUE GOD !!!!

  • Spaghetti man could have his own show.

  • Dear CM, Yes! I know that the real"Harlem Globetrotters"didn't do their voices for this tv cartoon Rip Off or for"The Harlem Globetrotters"TV Cartoon show. I know that one of the voices was done by Mr.Scatman Crothers..God Bless His Soul..I don't know who did the other voices?

  • Yo, is there more of this somewhere? Must have more!!

  • @BeniMCSquared it comes on boomerang every morning at 10:30

  • This makes me want to hurt people.

  • Looks like a mash up of the Harlem Globetrotters and The Impossibles!

  • It was funny this cartoon, I liked when the guy with the afro tookk someting out because you never knew what could be.

  • The sweetest way to get rid of your enemies. Put em' on a roof.

  • What, they couldn't get the rights to Sweet Georgia Brown?

  • How did these guys get their powers?Did they ever explain that?

  • I never knew there was a cartoon about the french soccer team !

  • Funky

  • era buenisimo !

  • You dare laugh at the Jesters of Dunk? They came to terrify and humiliate you, not tickle your funny bones!

  • Thanks! I loved this cartoon when I was a kid.

  • OOh man i used 2 watch this show like religion!

  • They did sum serious sh!t back in dem 70´s

  • great cartoon . still they barrowed from the impossibles

  • I like how they sway/dance a bit during 0:41 - 0:43. Thanks for the video. These were some really good times...

Screw Arkham and Ryker's! The top of a random building is the best super villain prison ever!

  • *Spaghetti man puts them on a building for stealing the show.*

    *slaps forehead*

  • Damn 70s anti violent cartoon laws! If this was a HB cartoon of the 60s the Bad Guys would of got blown up or punched out! Putting bad guys on top of high buildings is corny and all they have to do is take the elevator or stairs down LOL.

  • Damn word haven't seen this years remember watching this on cartoon network when it was worth watching use to watch this along with the Gary Coleman show, Gumby, with that dog the use to do karate. Damn good times when i was a kid in the 90s.

  • You and me both, brother!

  • Make that three! Awesome Friday night block of shows ("Gumby", "Hong Kong Phooey", "Gary Coleman Show" and this) around 10 years ago!

  • +1 for me, best years in cartoon

  • man i miss seein this on boomerang and cartoonnetwork

  • Used to watch this on cartoon network as a kid. I think it's a great cartoon so all of you people calling it a rip off, you suck.

  • I remember this as well.

  • i loved the original globetrotter cartoon series. this is just plain awful and painful to watch. this's a very bad rip-off of the impossibles, another hanna barbera cartoon show. "h.b." continues the "jump the shark" streak of it's cartoon shows...josie & the pussycats was fun to watch but when they went to outerspace; they lost me..i loved the original scooby doo show, but they lost me when scooby dum and scrappy doo showed up. so, please post more of the original globetrotters cartoon show...

  • One of those incredibly-dumb Hanna-Barberra cartoons that was so stupid, you just had to love it.

I especially loved the Crime Globe (0:21), the basketball-shaped spy satellite that would inform the Globetrotters when a crime was in progress: "Now dig this! Now dig this!"

The really weird thing: In 1980, this show was paired on NBC Saturday mornings with HB's animated "Adventures of Godzilla" show and became -- no kidding --

    "The Godzilla/Globetrotters Hour!"

  • I remember seeing this!

  • This cartoon show is unfunny and a ripoff

of"The Impossibles". Shame on Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera on producing

this rip off of"The Impossibles"(and I'm not saying this

    because I'm a racist..I love The Globtrotters..but this

    is no good).

  • @143AC You're right. It IS sort of "The Impossibles" in blackface. Don't know if anyone noticed

but NONE of the real Globetrotters did the voices.

  • @cmulwee001 I noticed the Impossibles paralell a few years back! Didn't think others had noticed it!

  • Kansas City Worldskippers

  • This had to be one of my favorite retro shows that they showed on Cartoon Network late at nite before Adult Swim came along. It follwed some show starring Gary Coleman as a guardian Angel. So stupid, yet so funny & enjoyable.

  • whoa.

  • I remember I saw this once when I was 12 years old. It was on at 3:30 (I wonder why?) in the morning on Cartoon Network.

  • Brings back memories. It's a great show, love the oldie cartoons.

  • If one single member of the Globetrotters can lasso a multitude of super villains and put them high atop a building, what kind of threat did they possess in the actual cartoon? Makes no sense, but its still kinda funny. :P

  • Supervillians are afraid of heights, thats why their secret lairs are always underground.

  • Why did HB give the Globetrotters the powers of the Impossibles? They couldn't come up with new powers (or new ideas)?

  • Multie-man....MULTIPY !!!!!

  • Cartoon Network/Boomerang reran this but not the 1970-1972 Harlem Globetrotters cartoon version.

  • I can't believe this is real- It looks like its from SNL's TV funhouse.

  • TV Funhouse draws on all these 70s and 80s cartoons for their humor. THAT is what makes TV Funhouse funny.

I don't see how you could get the jokes on TV Funhouse if you didn't recognize the sources it used for its parodies.

  • I know, I'm just saying that it's hard to tell the difference.

  • It's hard to tell the difference because this show actually looks like a parody of the cartoons from these times.

  • NBC's 1979-1980 Saturday Morning Line-Up

    8:00am The Daffy Duck Show

    8:30am Casper and the Angels

9:00am Fred & Barney Meet the Thing

    10:00am The Super Globetrotters

    10:30am The New Shmoo

11:00am The New Adventures of Flash Gordon

    11:30am Godzilla

    12:00pm Jonny Quest

    12:30pm The Jetsons

  • In my area, this show started at the same slot as ABC's "The Plastic Man Comedy-Adventure Show", itself of which ran for 2 hours.

  • I remember watching this back in the 80s as a kid in Nigeria. Thanks

  • awsome. i bet they can do all that 2!

    (how awsome they are)

  • omg how fucking legendary was this cartoon btw?

  • I have all the episodes of the super globetrotters on VHS.

  • thats awesome dude

  • Could you please extract the closing credits from one of them?

  • Why?

  • Awesome! I haven't seen this since I was qa kid! Altohugh this is like the Harlem Globetrotters meets "The Impossibles." Thanks for this clip!

  • Multi-man Multiply!!!!

  • If anyone in particular has the closing credits to this show, I would appreciate the upload.

  • This "Super Harlem Globetrotters" cartoon only had, i think, like 20 odd shows bt i watched most of them as a kid on Cartoon Network n e way - its such a classic - 'Old School lol

  • And one thing I still remember from this show, the saying "SUPER GLOBETROTTERS...AWAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"

  • hahahaha watta fucking newie hero spaguetti man!!!

  • Yow. I remember Curly Neal's giant basketball head used to freak me out when I was a kid.

  • whoa.

  • It looks like it was influenced by Ralph Bakshi's "Mighty Heroes". Good stuff.

  • That's not the opening I remember at all. Did they have another cartoon show? From the Seventies?

  • Yes, they did, it's called the Harlem Globetrotters. It was made in 1970.

  • Their attacks are the same that The Impossibles (1966) used.

  • Well, at least Spaghetti Man, Liquid Man and Multi Man do in this cartoon.

  • silly

  • The last thing of this 'toon that I want to see is the closing credits. Please upload them.

  • hey I loved this show...I played it in New Zealand....I was spaghetti man....

  • This opening, and the rest of the cartoons in this series as Cartoon Network aired them, are time compressed.

  • What does "time compressed" means?

  • "Time compressed" means that a certain show is sped up about at least 1% to add more time for commercial breaks.

  • You lear something new every day. Thanks for the reply.

    CHEERS!

  • I have not seen this intro since 1983 and I'm 28 years old now.
