Elgin was not the rescuer of the marbles, talk about naive! He, along with all those individuals who believe that taking from another culture in this form are nothing but thieves with a license to do so simply because they have the money to accomplish it.

If you visit the acropolis museum in Athens you will see the caryatids overlooking the missing sculptures like waiting them to return.

I strongly believe that the marbles should be returned to Greece. But shaming Lord Elgin and saying it is disgraceful is a little naive. If it wasn't for him the marbles most likely would have been destroyed or sold to who knows by the Turks. Or ended up as lime in some peasants road.

It is 'now' the right time for Britain to return them to Greece, and the new museum in Athens is a wonderful place to protect and showcase them.
