Anybody know if it was shown on U.S. television? Probably not, the MSM being what they are.....leftist propagandists, following orders from the federal government: "Hide the truth! Hide the truth! The American people are too stupid and emotional to know what's going on!" Something along those lines. Plus the progressive (same as collectivist/socialist/communist) agenda is served by leaving us in relative ignorance.
This movie was aired on the BBC in the UK and on the ABC here in Australia. It's a fantastic summary of the crisis, and was seen by millions of people.
@CFURIN they're buying billions in gold bc they know its all about to crash and we go back to precious metals based currency, which is much much more fair
Has anybody actually seen the film? What a joke these comments are.
Unregulated CDO markets where invented gains roamed freely caused the absurd price distortions and private interest over government lead to further deregulative legislation.
If they divided the money spent up amongst all US citizens, and let us spend the money, the economy would be far better off now and knowing we now all owe $120,000 (deficit divided by # taxpayers) would at least have given us the satisfaction of spending it. Instead some local city paved some streets, as if that wouldn't have happened anyways without stimulus funds?
@LinnTractorNut ....not to mention, government always takes a huge chunk off the top for the expenses involved in administration of the stimulus....probably 50% or less actually was used for "stimulus". (But it was really pork paybacks to unions and other gov't cronies.)
Obama represents the extent of the control that the NWO has over the American people. Think about it. They were able to "sell" his candidacy to us, despite all the crap that was being exposed about him. As soon as their sales gimmick was dismantled, so went his support, revealing a shell of a "leader", who's real purpose is to usher in the last stages of their plan to consolidate power into few hands. Get ready for the final battle.
OBAMA is a LIAR, incompetent, a muslim manchurian candidate, a communist and wants to seize dictatorial power..... Obama is a SOROS creation and his puppet. Obama is bought and paid for... and a media creation. He is nothing more than a community agitator.
I'm glad a Swedish filmmaker figured out the next crisis. Which just happens to look just like the last crisis. With full hindsight. Based on one book. mmmhmmm
"[Our interviewees] forecasted the last crisis," he says. Really? Megan McArdle???? Better idea: talk to Nouriel Roubini, Robert Shiller, or Nassim Taleb. Without them, you have NO credibility on predicting the last crisis.
How can we watch this... doesn't youtube have a rental service for videos? We need a Libertarian video/movie rental site... I think there is a demand anyways... but I don't have the resources to put it into action.
Just wondering, what would be the libertarian response to the economic recession? It is my understanding that had the Fed not increased the money supply, the US would have deflation.
@ilieklolcatz In my view it's a little more complicated then just the money supply. The demographics are at play as well, and the fact that the US is way over built, in terms of realistate both commercial and private homes. Had the Fed not increased the supply I think prices would have been stable, to do the massive amount of banks that would have failed and many morgages would have been subregated. No morgage = more money to spend. A little to tough to say with only 500 letters.
@ilieklolcatz The response would be do drastically lower taxes and deregulate the economy, beyond that basically not do everything they already are doing which is just making things worse. Lower taxes and less regulation creates a business environment ripe for expansion, which in turn creates more jobs and more successful businesses.
@bittergunowner12 The U.S. gov't is bankrupt by any reasonable banking standard. It can not repay its national debt. The only reason it hasn't collapsed is because the rest of the world economies depend on the U.S. economy so they won't let it fail.
All government interference in the economy is an attempt to controvert reality. It is a childish game of let's pretend. Let's give people money and lets pretend they are prosperous. Let's tamper with the free market mortgage process and pretend that everybody has earned a house. From corporate bailouts to minimum wage laws its all a game of pretend. Its all a vain attempt to cheat reality and always fails because reality cannot be cheated.
In the end reallity wins and the house of cards crashes
@0PsycoDad0 NO.Banks were pushed by gov't into offering low-interest,no $ down loans to those who couldn't afford it.Banks don't make bad loans, any more than other businesses sell their goods for less than wholesale cost.Banks were told they'd not be allowed to expand if they didn't offer risky loans, based on phony research that showed banks were "red-lining",denying loans based on race. But only blacks were included.Asians,Latinos had no trouble getting loans. How could the banks be red-lining?
Moore market liberalism??? If he means michael moore, that guy is as anti-liberal economically as possible...misunderstanding perhaps.
Government and FED bankers are the culprits who created the crisis' and they continue the same old control and manipulation. Politicians love the thought by Keynes that "In the long run, we're all dead".
@trekkerperson no they called him "The market liberal version of michael moore", IE that they had a documentary style and doing the same kind off film like Moore did about economy. Only they did it from a pro market liberal version.
Glad this gentlemen doesn't pretend the movie it is something he doesn't think it is (Libertarian). I appreciate his honesty and the movie seems like it could be very informative, can't wait to see it.
