  • I usually lusten to this song when its to fucking hard to type in out on youtube

  • My favorite version is by the Strangewoods, I wish they'd upload a video of them doing it.

  • IS AOIBHINN LIOM AN AMHRAIN SIN

  • This is a rare song that actually left American and become a traditional in another Country. The reverse is normally true.

  • this version is too slow. Its better faster, more upbeat.

  • dad used to sing this.

  • to dad

  • Wild Rover, Heard!!!

  • my dad used to sing this to me when he was pissed. i now sing this to my son when i'm pissed. why? don't know but i like it.

  • I like the song better sung faster.

  • A love song to the booze, sung with great sincerity by a great Irishman.

  • Love it when im drunk

  • My parents would sing this to me as a little kid.

  • i love this fuckin song i nevr really herd music like this its great

  • my family were bootleggers until 20 years ago

  • they do have a faster version which is amazing its such a fun song

  • i agree and they even try to say that this song was created in iraland in the 1930s witch is complete BS the word it self was created in america and this version suck so bad roscoe holcomb best ever it just makes me mad that they are trying to say it is an irish song fuck the clancey brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Try learning how to spell

  • excuse me?.the world was created in america?..will u ever get over ur own self importance ye feckin eejit

  • @MsAppleofmyeye first of all i never said the world was created in america so read before you post

  • "read before you post"

That would be difficult given that your first post was one of the biggest piles of semi-literate shit ever seen.

  • it was a mistype i ment word

    h

  • @MsAppleofmyeye in that case do some reaserch the word moonshine or moonshiner was created in america during the early 1900s and was used to define men who worked on the production of grain alcohol at night so that they would not be caught sorry if i offended you that was not my intention it just angerd me that the clancy bros try and take credit for this song that they did not invent i would had said fuck bob dylan if he would have tried and claimed this song as well made by rocoe holcomb

  • i didnt mean to offend either.....i suppose moonshine is basically poteen thats made in a diff country with a diff name....

  • They don't take credit for this song. Most of the songs that they sing are folk songs that are in the public domain. They never take credit for writing it, only performing it. You're a moron.

  • @userjdr The Clancy brothers sang numerous Scottish, English, Australian, American, & Canadian folk songs. I'm glad a great Irish folk group sang this song (though I prefer their faster versions of the song to this one from very early in their career--it's from their second LP from 1959). If they did state that it was Irish, it was only a mistake not an attempt to steal what is most likely originally an American song. Besides, *a lot* of U.S. folk songs use Irish tunes, so it goes both ways.

  • jesus! theyve slaughtered it ! try the UncleTupelo version

  • i'm half Irish & there's something very comforting about listening to the Clancy bros & the Dubliners playing traditional ballads

  • This IS the proper speed, from the CD 'The Best of the Clancy Brothers featuring Tommy Maykem and their families"

  • When i have a kid this is going to be there lullaby! >:D

  • Ever thought of getting a vasectomy?

  • i have this version on one of their albums

  • I dont know, I kinda like it in the slowed version, gives it a sort of mournful tune to it

  • haa yess wild rover is right! this song is amazing. i love going to the pub and listening to these songs

  • bad ass song one of my favorite

  • too bad the recording is slowed down. Be better at its true speed!

  • see, this is the version i prefer. it is mournful and sad. but i do like the fast one too.

  • Is the song susposed to sound sad?

  • not sad , just regretful and melancholy

  • It's not a "version." It's a very slowed down copy of the original recording. If you knew how the original sounded you'd see how strange this sounds. I don't know why someone would do this...

  • I've been a moonshiner for many the years, i've spent all my money on whiskey and beer. I'll go to some Hollow, and set up my still and i'll make you a gallon for a ten shilling bill!

    God bless Makem!

  • love this song

  • hey will irishdaraugh ever be back or wehn ur suspended is it perminant?

  • best song in the world!!

  • this is a very alsome song the best i have ever heard
