i agree and they even try to say that this song was created in iraland in the 1930s witch is complete BS the word it self was created in america and this version suck so bad roscoe holcomb best ever it just makes me mad that they are trying to say it is an irish song fuck the clancey brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MsAppleofmyeye in that case do some reaserch the word moonshine or moonshiner was created in america during the early 1900s and was used to define men who worked on the production of grain alcohol at night so that they would not be caught sorry if i offended you that was not my intention it just angerd me that the clancy bros try and take credit for this song that they did not invent i would had said fuck bob dylan if he would have tried and claimed this song as well made by rocoe holcomb
They don't take credit for this song. Most of the songs that they sing are folk songs that are in the public domain. They never take credit for writing it, only performing it. You're a moron.
@userjdr The Clancy brothers sang numerous Scottish, English, Australian, American, & Canadian folk songs. I'm glad a great Irish folk group sang this song (though I prefer their faster versions of the song to this one from very early in their career--it's from their second LP from 1959). If they did state that it was Irish, it was only a mistake not an attempt to steal what is most likely originally an American song. Besides, *a lot* of U.S. folk songs use Irish tunes, so it goes both ways.
It's not a "version." It's a very slowed down copy of the original recording. If you knew how the original sounded you'd see how strange this sounds. I don't know why someone would do this...
I've been a moonshiner for many the years, i've spent all my money on whiskey and beer. I'll go to some Hollow, and set up my still and i'll make you a gallon for a ten shilling bill!
I usually lusten to this song when its to fucking hard to type in out on youtube

This is a rare song that actually left American and become a traditional in another Country. The reverse is normally true.
