I think it's pretty obvious Kaorin's lez. Some of the stuff I can see being simple admiration, but all she talks about is *doing Kaorin impression* Miss Sakaki! Plus with scenes like this, the Folk Dance, her reaction to the beach pictures and her New Years dream, I think it's painfully obvious.

Heh. Yeah, all of the characters are turned up to 11 in Azumanga Daioh. One theory I've heard is that the entire cast is telling the Author about their time in high school, 10 years down the track, and as stories do, they're exadurating them a bit.

It's a shame that they wrote Kaorin out, more or less. I would have liked to see a bit of closure, one way or another with the entire pairing. That, and I feel rotten when I see her reactions to being transfered. :P

Two of the main cast are openly lesbian, and it's a show marketed to preteen girls.

And Kaorin, and possibly the two teachers are the main ones with subtext. Or supertext, in the Kaorin/Misukaki example. :P
