Gretzky owned the back of the net and had the game down to a science, ovechkin is quick and can see a whole play develop before it starts, lemieux had a reach like a pterodactyl and used forearm strength to flip the puck up ridiculous angles, orr gave 100000% every night and just refused to be taken out of a play howe was just the toughest dude ever, all amazing

not really that much of a good goal. not hard to pass it off the boards to yourself. But its harder to shoot like that when your falling. Lucky the other player passed it too far, but skill that he was in right place.

simply b/c the NHL has made Sidney Crosby the NHL's face to get attention. Which is annoying b/c the NHL is FILLED with SO many wonderful stars and amazing talent...Ovechkin is a sensational player and a great spokesmen for the game whether he would be the NHL's face or just considered secondary, it doesn't matter to Ovie at all...plus he has a LOT of fun too :-)
To be honest I can see the NHL using AO as the face of the game as time goes on and he settles into a ultimately dominating career. I am making some assumptions though. Oh, and sure there are many great players in the league, but there is still a difference between AO and most if not all of the rest. One may not like him, but he is still the top player considering what people like to see. His D will never be as good as some, but fans don't put a premium on D. They like offense.
In my opinion if the NHl wants to become more popular to sports fans they need to focus on more than just AO and Crosby...Ovechkin is out of this world, but the league has a ton of talent to offer. My point is it's not a one-player league, but AO is one of the top players you can find, not just in the NHL but all of sports. I just think that the mistake with putting Crosby at the top was that the league already had great players, and it seemed like the NHL's advertising management seem oblivious
But it's definitely obvious that the fans LOVE offense which is why they made CRUCIAL changes like getting rid of "two-line passes, allowing players to use wider curved stick blades, bringing in the shootout, and preventing goalies from traveling into the corners to play the puck"...My point was just that the league has a lot to offer, but AO is one of it's BEST features, as well as Crosby...

not really that much of a good goal. not hard to pass it off the boards to yourself. But its harder to shoot like that when your falling. Lucky the other player passed it too far, but skill that he was in right place.

Wasnt that great. What a cocky bastard, almost as bad as crosby. They both thing that they are the greatest when they clearly are not (they are the team). That goal wasnt even hard. He flipped the puck up, not shot.

simply b/c the NHL has made Sidney Crosby the NHL's face to get attention. Which is annoying b/c the NHL is FILLED with SO many wonderful stars and amazing talent...Ovechkin is a sensational player and a great spokesmen for the game whether he would be the NHL's face or just considered secondary, it doesn't matter to Ovie at all...plus he has a LOT of fun too :-)

To be honest I can see the NHL using AO as the face of the game as time goes on and he settles into a ultimately dominating career. I am making some assumptions though. Oh, and sure there are many great players in the league, but there is still a difference between AO and most if not all of the rest. One may not like him, but he is still the top player considering what people like to see. His D will never be as good as some, but fans don't put a premium on D. They like offense.

In my opinion if the NHl wants to become more popular to sports fans they need to focus on more than just AO and Crosby...Ovechkin is out of this world, but the league has a ton of talent to offer. My point is it's not a one-player league, but AO is one of the top players you can find, not just in the NHL but all of sports. I just think that the mistake with putting Crosby at the top was that the league already had great players, and it seemed like the NHL's advertising management seem oblivious

But it's definitely obvious that the fans LOVE offense which is why they made CRUCIAL changes like getting rid of "two-line passes, allowing players to use wider curved stick blades, bringing in the shootout, and preventing goalies from traveling into the corners to play the puck"...My point was just that the league has a lot to offer, but AO is one of it's BEST features, as well as Crosby...
