You're horse looks very pacey. I can tell by the way you're bouncing around. Slow him down and give him more time to develop the racking gait. He's almost there.
Nice horse, but not what I would consider a speed racker. I grew up showing and training TWHs, my father hated speed rackers, but I love 'em. Keep workin' and maybe you'll qualify...

Well I own standardbreds that rack and do it fast and smooth, and YES I have passed a quarter horse galloping wide open. Do a search here for video's fastandsmoothe and you can see a real rack at a nice speed. Western pleasure is a waste of good horse flesh, remember if you don't rack, you are in the back!
She is bouncing a little but it's not the horse. She is getting too far forward and changing her wieght on the horses front end causing him to get a little ruff.Quater horses have their place. But gaited horses are beer drinking all day ride horses. You won't ride a quater horse 20 miles and then dance the rest of it.A gaited horse you can,if you can dance.
I think that you need to do some conditioning of this horse. Looks very pacey and the rider looks like she is bouncing all over. Look at the pony tail and shoulders on the rider.
o i have:) i ride my horse EVERYDAY, i live with my horse, hes in the barn,i only have QHs ad paint,i barrel race, and all that qith QHs,thats like,a speed horse my horse manies a little speed demon he could beat a horse at a rack its jut a fast trot:P my mom has a saddlebred tho,his names shicka, bumbiest thing iv ever rode!
All I am saying is you can maintain a running walk for hours on end in comfort and style. Whereas a QH would bounce you to death and couldn't keep it up over the long haul. Depends what you are looking for in a horse.
i mean, srry to come off like that, its just.....they look...funny? and quarter horses are bred for galloping fast sometimes, called speed horses, if i would gallop my quarter horse it would probaly beat a horse thats at a fast trot, srry peepz, it just doesnt look cool, it looks freakish
While I LOVE western pleasure...I ALWAYS LOVED TO TAKE THOSE QUARTER HORSE PEOPLE ON ABOUT A 25 mile ride....They would be "laughing" at my "old man racking horse"...But would be "crying when we got back to the trailer"...They couldn't gallop and keep up...That trot would jar their guts out.LOL... While I was RIDING SO SMOOTH..
Good for you! Many gaited breeds are very versatile and are able to cut cattle, jump, pole bend, run barrels, and still give you a smooth ride on a trail or in the show ring. They can also be shown english or western! This is what I like about standardbreds and walkers!
hey now! I have several horses, some gaited, and my quarter was my first! I luvluvluv him!!! I don't do western pleasure though, the head hung low does look kinda overly submissive and odd. But yaa, she shouldn't said that. All breeds of horse are naturally beautiful!! Any true horse lover will agree. That's why I hate 'big lickers' so much because they can't appreciate this beauty in its natural form.
there is no pourpose for a racking horse of any kind. tennasee walkers, bla bla bla they are sucky horses all they do is lift there feet at a fast pace it looks gay. they have huge long heads and jarapf necks and there all bug eyed there so ugly.
True horse lovers wouldn't say such a thing...I agree that padded rackers look RIDICULOUS, but that's the doing of their owners. TWH's are a beautiful, elegant breed and unless you've ridden or owned gaited breeds you just don't know how incredibly awesome they are!
I'm sorry to say this, but that horse isn't "racking" very smoothly. Too much bounce. Makes me think this horse is performing a pace, rather than a true rack. There's also not much speed, but I love the color and form, though. If you look at the horse and rider at about the 22 second mark in the video, you'll see that the rider is bouncing a lot.
aww ok cool thanx for felling me in with that its just that ive never herad of such a thing in the horse indrusty but there u go u learn something new everyday lol well your horse looks like he is doing his job then very well his beautiful and u look very good as well :)
The speed rack is just a faster version of the rack (which is a four beat gait). The horse is ridden and judged on style and speed in a ring. They are supposed to have natural leg lift, a high head, and lots of speed.

its as fast as a gallop ppl-_-

I would like to see you gallop all day on your QH. Can't beat a gaited horse for speed and comfort.

So you must be a quarter horse person, alyssa. No purpose to having a hores drag it's head on the ground either.
