It is hard to explain the reason but, no matter what level of oneness we experience on psychedelics, it is always an "altered" state, not at all like the crystal clear state of total consciousness through yogic awakening.

That's why I have a dozen peer reviewed journal articles from MAJOR journals that say mescaline has no long term harm and in all studies done on Native populations- over many years -it is near universally beneficial; much moreso than ANY RX drug can be deemed "beneficial" in a study population.

Yes meditation is time-consuming (not really difficult) but it is more thorough than drugs and much much clearer, like, crystal clear. Drugs might teach you some valuable lessons about reality, but they are all layered underneath some really crazy stuff that will quite likely confuse the message. Plus there are no bad trips on meditation! But, you know, whichever method works for you is the right one.
I remember an Indian guy once told me, about magic mushrooms, that its kind of like a short-cut - the message is the same as that which comes from meditation, but without all of those years of training, your mind isn't really ready for that kind of leap, and so it will be overwhelmed and you'll likely forget it.

I would be curious of your experiences with meditation. I've been exploring it myself for the past year, as well as studying the mystics and non-dualism. I understand when you struggle to explain it, because it IS beyond the mind, beyond words, so it should be hard to explain. All the famous mystics found it difficult, usually stuck in paradox. Keep up your curiosity!

That's why I have a dozen peer reviewed journal articles from MAJOR journals that say mescaline has no long term harm and in all studies done on Native populations- over many years -it is near universally beneficial; much moreso than ANY RX drug can be deemed "beneficial" in a study population.

I suspect Sir Richard Owen would be a bit more helpful when queried about the word than simply saying: "It's a terrible lizard","in Latin". Btw, I probably would ask him what a Dinosaur was, the concept of an extinct 50 ft flesh eating monster was probably hard to swallow in those days.
A search for the word 'xenocompound' on Google yields exactly one result. It is hardly a contemporary term. I would advise against inventing your own language if you wish to be understood and taken seriously

Toxifying their minds? Maybe. Some drugs are dangerous. But the ones that are illegal, or the ones that provide temporany intoxicating effects aren't nessasarily the most dangerous. I find that alcohol has much more harmful effects on ones body, life, and personality than some of the other illegal drugs. (Though I'm not claiming to be an expert. Alot of the drugs Neurosoup talks about I've never seen.) But I think religion is more harmful than some of these drugs. But to each their own.

I don't think they ruin lives. Some of these that are extremely physically addicting do ruin livees and should be strongly discouraged. (Such as cocaine, herion, methanphatemines. ) Also alot of legal drugs can ruin lives too. Such as addiction to oxycotin. Most of these dangerous drugs have pharmacutical counterparts. Early on,I had a belief in God,but not strong. After college,I really sought Him; what the purpose of everything was; why was there evil,death etc..
I read books. Also,I was purifying my body with fasting & a strict natural diet. Most importantly I was pleading my prayers. What eventually occurred- I had love,tolerance & forgiveness for people I previously did't like at all. Weirdest thing is I could not feel any other way.

That's interesting. in my own experience, I also had a "not strong" belief in God early on, and considered turning to Christianity. However, I found it to be too misguided and confused, and eventually looked into Buddhism, which seemed to me much more rational, insightful, and frankly, true. I believe thoroughly in compassion, forgiveness, etc, and in Buddhism, this is a practise which can be cultivated over time.

A person can experience cosmic-consciousness without entheogens.But it's like lightening,it might strike,it might not.And when people say that the way to go, is without entheogenic help("drugs")like meditation etc.etc.,i just figure,of course,since most of these methods they recommend are legal,then they're going to pick those those difficult and time consuming(legal)ones first.If entheogenic Churches and other rites were commonly available,not much would be said,about meditation as a "way".

Yes meditation is time-consuming (not really difficult) but it is more thorough than drugs and much much clearer, like, crystal clear. Drugs might teach you some valuable lessons about reality, but they are all layered underneath some really crazy stuff that will quite likely confuse the message. Plus there are no bad trips on meditation! But, you know, whichever method works for you is the right one.

I remember an Indian guy once told me, about magic mushrooms, that its kind of like a short-cut - the message is the same as that which comes from meditation, but without all of those years of training, your mind isn't really ready for that kind of leap, and so it will be overwhelmed and you'll likely forget it.
