I feel a bit sorry for him too, because he was possessed and maybe he didn't realise it because the devil had blinded him. Maybe the devil took full control of him when he did betray Jesus.

Luke 22:3 "Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve." and

John 13:27 "As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”

And tried so hard to save him, to keep him away from the bad company and friends of the Sanhedrin, away from his lustful life, away from his greed for money and power, prayed for him, fasted for him, wept so much tears for him... Nothing worked, a traitor should be around. But in the end, his love became a hatred, a jealousy, a disappointment.

He cursed Jesus and even called Him a rabbit... He hung himself and his eyes toward the 3 crosses being lifted at the same time. What a betrayal, what an end!

Jesus didn't want him close, neither a disciple, but a traitor should be around, that's the Scripture and it should be fulfilled. Jesus loved Judas, loved Him as much as He loved John, loved him especially because He is the lost lamb out of the 99..

It's a life changing experience, and I know exactly what you mean concerning Judas Iscariot, even his mother knew how lustful and deceitful he can be. He loved Jesus, but loved Him for a purpose, for a profit.

I always value listening to Father Peter, and mostly agree. This is one of (only) two cases in which I have some doubts. When so much information about Jesus and his followers has been lost to history, and the oral tradition not recorded until many years after Jesus' death,and contains embroidery, I am interested in how FP KNOWS what he says. I'm not disputing it, it has value. Yet it is useful to separate allegory from history. Thanks.

With all due respect. You don't have any right to deceive the people into thinking Judas was an evil man. Fact is Judas was Jesus' best friend and he never betrayed him for 30 pcs of silver....believe it or not sir I am the reincarnation of Judas Iscariat...you can write and talk to me if you want to know the real Jesus....

@johnyknine That is totally ridiculous. If you knew Jesus really, you couldn't talk like this. Judas was a snake most of the three years with Jesus and only occasionally did he actually help and behave himself. He was lustful and a thief the whole time basically. As for knowing Jesus, read Poem of the Man-God by Maria Valtorta.

@sugarbabe06 You don't really understand love very much. Jesus volunteered to love that much that his sacrifice and death would pay off all the karma of the people on earth. God did not make him do that - he wanted to.

But u shouldnt forget that Jesus kept him by his side even though he knew he will betray him. This is because this was the role of Judas: to betray Jesus. M not defending Judas.. but I think that Judas was not that evil .. u know he killed himself in the end because he regretted what he has done so he is capable of feeling the guilt.. he is just a misguided person who needs help.

@KteefRomman He was not wanting any help. He was hardened totally in evil and wanted to be that. He had given himself over completely to the dark side and hated God. No redemption is possible for Judas. Jesus said that.

If Jesus wished that Judas had never been born then why did he not turn his back on Judas if he knew what he was going to do? If it was not Judas it would have been somebody else. I think we all have to process the Judas in ourselves, I think rejecting it may just keep us in the trap. Is my logic floored? Thats a good message all the same.

@captainsentient Jesus' job was t save, redeem and love everyone, even Judas. It was Jesus' greatest sorrow that he did not really convert Judas, but he had to try. Yes, someone would have done the job of betraying him, but it was a very bad thing to do that for anyone. Father Peter

So all seeing God allowed Judas to be born. And Jesus, who was God's son, wasn't able to cure the wicked soul? That isn't very convincing.

The other part where you tell about Judas inside us is good psychological truth.
