How sad it is that in the 1930s and 40s artists and their viewers understood how terrible (not great) were the rulers in the world, but the powers that be made this knowledge disappear within 50 years and now we're suffering from the consequences of lost knowledge and a very ignorant population. And, I hate to say it, but I think the mass media is to blame but not because of the sex and violence. It's because of the mindlessness of contemporary TV and movies.
