  • The whole thing about noticing racial tendencies isn't racism, it's reality. Heck, there are times I can pretty much have an order written down before I even take it just based on tendencies, and the same goes for the tips. Now, of course, there are plenty of exceptions (and I always give out the same quality of service to every table), but the overall percentages are lopsided.

  • I love, love LOVE you!!!! I have been a server for over 20 years, I truly believe that all States should institute a service industry unit in 8th grade Social Studies class in all schools!!! I am also on board with giving the same service to every color and nationality, I have been pleasantly surprised many times when I do this! I live in the middle of Missouri, we get folks from bigger cities traveling through all the time, they know how to tip better than the small town hillbillies!!!

  • Dude I love you. I got down on one knee at my table today and proceeded to explain the fact that we (servers) make $2.13 and hour and that their 10 percent tip is costing me money due to tip out. They were quickly embarrased and the paying gentleman took his wallet out and gave me 40 dollars (a 20 percent tip). Obviously I was tactful in this situation but I never would have had the balls to do this without your show. Keep it up man, I'm spreading the word. -Rob from Dallas.

  • I really enjoyed this video. I look forward to more like it.

  • How about this Mr Waiterman, my last table tonight were Chinese tourist who didn't speak english. My check ups on them consisted of giving a thumbs up, and they would nod. At my resort, they were on a prepaid meal plan, but it doesn't cover alcohol nor tip. They had 2 beers, and wrote in a very nice tip. I spent 5 minutes literally, in the most basic words possible trying to explain I still needed money for the tip and beers. Finally a light went off and they understood. Ah, the fun we have

  • I hated the "ten minutes before closing" customers at my old bar. Usually, they were drink and beligerent.

  • Homemade honey wine...for now. 151 later.

Ditto on the whole people coming in ten minutes before close.

  • No managers? That is heaven.

  • @odddity Disagree. While managers can cause problems, good ones can literally save you.

  • Most nights its Captain and Ginger Ale, but tonight its southern style sweet tea with sweet tea vodka... yummies. And Mr. Waiter Man, I hope that if I ever make it out to the west coast, or you come to the east coast for whatever reason, I can dine at the restaurant you work at. I think it has officially made my bucket list :P

  • Not gonna lie, I think you're cute, Mr. Waiter Man :) Thanks for the video!

  • The bullshit about servers being racist and subconsciously giving bad service to blacks...wrong! I went into serving with no assumptions about race. But it was impossible not to notice a pattern developing. I gave the same speedy and courteous service to all--regardless of race, etc... Being a blonde white girl would have them leaving phone numbers, but hardly anything to speak of in terms of tips.

  • @mmr11027 I agree with you 100%...I never ever wanted to be one of those "racist waiters" that everyone talks about. Well, it's hard to ignore what happens with more than just black people. I get it from Asians, old people, Native Americans, etc. They all have their quirks and we do our best to give them equal service. But let me tell you that after a long double, having our last table be one of "those" tables and they don't leave you a good tip, the stereotype grows in our heads.

  • @GoodGravyGrace Thank you! I'm glad to know there are others who aren't racist but has noticed that there are strong tendencies some groups share. I was lucky enough to have been raised by very open-minded parents who never taught me to be racist and I still think of myself as someone who is not racist. I treated everyone with complete respect and by noticing the stark difference in tipping behaviors, it made me think I was an asshole for noticing!

  • I love this concept.. I'm actually drinking some cheap wine while I was watching this so it worked out. haha! Please keep the after shift drinks coming :)

  • You're supposed to be telling me why I'm supposed to tip "to-go" orders! I ALWAYS tip 20% when dining at a restaurant, but never tip for orders to-go!

  • @spades1412 I don't think he meant that you have to tip to-go orders. He meant that the total of his sales INCLUDED to-go orders and still got 20% average tip. Meaning, if to-go orders are subtracted from the total, he should get a higher tip average. (it's a math thing, idk if i explained it well)

On the same note, as a former waiter, I've had lots of people round off the total amount of a pick-up order to the nearest dollar and added 1 to 5 dollars (depending on how much they've ordered)

  • I like the more free-form style. Keep it up Herr Waiterman.

Drinking Gin&Gingerale by the by. Know any good Martini recipies?

  • I like the more free-form style. Keep it up Herr Waiterman

  • Mr. Waiter man, we're grateful for your time.. after all "Time is the biggest thing in the restaurant business". :) Seriously, I do hope you can learn all these fun new things, but there's an odd charm in your old videos with the comically slapped together girl outfits. Oh well, I'm sure your new style will be fun (and educational) too.
