ayayay ! Impressive wow ! Thank you for the post..I don't like so much looking at children playing because I find out that they are sometimes trained so much that they loose their own creativity and living their childhood...but no doubt it's quite amazing to see him being such at ease on the piano at this age ! I would like to see him on the cello you said ?
Technically he has the right stuff but it is still a mechanical rendition. There is no heart or emotion yet. HOWEVER: Give the kid a break, though! He has a solid if forced interpretation but he needs to fall in love, then out of love, then pine a little, suffer, and THEN he should revisit the piece! I would enjoy hearing him play it again in five years!
@Hemyola I agree totally ..you can hear the graceful and elegant use of dynamics which are imho the hallmarks of a mature player in any musical genre.I was paying keen attention to this particularlyduring the cadenza and for me he was right on the money :-)
I'm 12 and im grade 4 piano playing pirates of Caribbean etc but I do thing that it is not good for young people to play in big concerts with an orchestra, most of their parents are people who force there children to do everything.
It is true about many kids. Not Oliver though. He is never forced. He does not practice much piano. With him it is just his love and talent. He does whatever he wants.
oliver is far too "self-motivated". he does NOT need anybody to force him into things lol
also oliver's mother is a terrific mother, she would only "encourage". as far as i know it is oliver's determination and talent that keeps things afloat. were he a "forced" child then he would not show such great musicality. also you just need to watch oliver's great smile at the end of any of his vids to realize that his love for music is genuine!
offstar24, How can you judge someone simply by their age as to their ability to understand a piece, He has certainly spent a considerable amount of time learning to play. In fact everyone's understanding of music (Especially Classical) is different, so id have to argue there is no 'correct' interpretation. :-) Well played in my opinion.
he plays from the heart...that is a thing called TALENT and no everybody has that. Those people born with that and it's almost impossible developed during your life IF YOU ARN'T TALENT.
Yes his playing does amaze me. A little too fast though. He has a very good teacher, but I woudn't call him a genius. I'm 12 years old and i'm sitting diplomas in piano this year and i practive 2 hours a day. And to fogge.. he should not be a child prodigy. Thank you
Bro, it's okay, there will always be someone better then you, always. You feel threatened by this kid's talent, but don't be. Just practice yourself; he's very talented, I know, because I'm a prodigal pianist myself. But there are millions better then me... So just practice, and keep practicing, and you'll be great
I wish I learned piano at a young age but my parents did not condone my endeavors with music. So I taught myself how to play drums and percussion... that is something either you have or you don't. Very little can be taught to a drummer I think to separate an avg one from a great or even a good one. But I don't believe there will always be someone better. There is a such thing as a best. For drummers it's Buddy Rich. I think for Composition it is Mozart. I love prodigy music though. Enchanting.
@Mike0071 I was never a prodigy on the piano; in fact I had a hard time reading music and coordinating both hands but that didn't stop me through my love of music to find my own way.
As an autodidact I now after many years have developed the gift to play and improvise by ear in virtually any musical genre or style on several instruments including my voice with considerable facility. Grace a Dieu!
i don't how many other talented pianists out there but if you really feel the music and be passionate bout it, i can tell soon you will be the most SOMEONE!
Amazing video you're very talented my friend, you have inspired me to keep making music. Unfortunetly there is a lot of ignorance and indifference about art and classical music in my country, wish there were conservatories and concert halls.
This is an artist who deserves to have as many people who watch these videos.
I am unable to understand that you can have as much talent with both instruments, the piano and cello. In all cases bravo. I admire your deeply talented musicians and performers ... Asked, "Olivier Aldort" can you tell me?, Which of the two instruments that you prefer? ...
At your age, I was barely playing the Grande Valse Brillante by Chopin; shows just how much better you're then me lol. Props bro. Don't quit like I did...
Any one think that maybe it should be the people and children that work hours a day to perfect a insterment, that we should be looking at? Obviously the aldort kid has very much natural talent, And in a message I got from his mom she said that he only practices 2 hours a day. what im saying is there are many childer that work there butts off and never get a tad of attention. now in NO way what so ever am I down saying this Aldort, ( and ya he is one of the best ) Im just saying.
Piano? Piano is not my main instrument. I don't practice it daily. Sometimes twenty minutes a day, sometimes half an hour. Right before concert maybe an hour.
Outstanding! I love it when this concerto is taken up-tempo... I hate it when it drags along!
Oh my, 4:50... probably my favorite part of the concerto.
And the woodwinds in this orchestra (particularly the double reeds) are in need of some serious help. They were out of tune, and I even heard one of the bassoon players miss 2 or 3 notes! Unacceptable at this level of performance, given the difficulty of the music for the orchestra.
If this is you at 13 you can only get a heck of a lot better! I played mozart when I was 13 too,oh wait that was Mary had little Lamb. heh. The only thing I would say is to work on dynamics, but that might just be the recording. amazing really.
i love this. i think the way it's played is perfect - i suppose though, i'm often told i race music lol. i suppose it's a matter of opinion, mabey mozart would have wanted it played slower but i don't know
His sense of touch is good but again too fast. the tempo marking in the original score is Allegro and is so for a reason. it needs to be fast but not as fast as the Rondo in the 3rd Movement.he plays well but if he slowed it down a little bit it would be perfect. good job kid you play very well :D
Yes, I think he was in a hurry, because it is not that fast. Maybe they were late for the next movement. Oh, and let me tell you, he changed some things from the concerto.
Yea, it is called a cadenza. Well done, Oliver. This was played alright but you did speed a bit from here to there. I play the Beethoven cadenza which is also good. I'm not sure you should have posted this. The VCM probably weren't supposed to have this recording released. xx
We can only imagine the sound produced by the child prodigy that is Mozart. But watching this recording, it's not too hard imagining when we have true prodigies alive today.
This is a tremendous performance, very inovative and yet rahter humble approach to the piece, for someone his age. Excellent job. I was wondering, twhom does the cadence belong to, if i'm not mistaken it's not Mozart's? Is it Oliver's?
Indeed, Cadences weren't used to be written cause it was normal that the one who played also knew how to improvise/compose that cadence, it was sometimes also used to show the pianists talent while he improvises :)
Dude, are you bored playing the cello or what? =D

no. it's just right. it's a movement of great drive and urgencey. a duel (c.f. Don Giovanni) doesnt occur leisurly. or does it.

Well done.

This is a tremendous performance, very inovative and yet rahter humble approach to the piece, for someone his age. Excellent job. I was wondering, twhom does the cadence belong to, if i'm not mistaken it's not Mozart's? Is it Oliver's?

Mozart did not write a cadence for this concerto (or I would have played it.) I used the cadence of Paul Badura-Skoda.

Indeed, Cadences weren't used to be written cause it was normal that the one who played also knew how to improvise/compose that cadence, it was sometimes also used to show the pianists talent while he improvises :)
Btw, u play awesome!

Cadenza, not cadence. Beethoven wrote a great one for that piece (and movement).
