  • Dude, are you bored playing the cello or what? =D

  • wow! Awesome...

  • so, yeah... what genius taught him?!!?

    hes a beatiful kid

  • amazing!!

  • Oliver, from which year are You ?

    Great ! :)

  • this young fellow is terrific both on piano and cello ..one day he will be a great conductor , someone like Barenboim

  • waaahh!. to be able to play piano on a place like that.. that's awesome.. and he plays the cello too!.. what a gift.. xD

  • exellente

  • Holy Shit! he plays piano too??!

  • He's good enough to listen to.

  • the amazing thing to me is that this kid is just as good on the cello as the piano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love the intensity, actually!

  • Wonderful playing!!! I wish I could play like that...

    Congratulations. A wonderful God-given talent!!!

    SABINO

  • wow!

  • plays well, but his posture and mannerisms are so intense! loosen up, my child. it's music.

  • i actually agree. its wonderfull playing, but losening a bit up would actuall be good, some parts are a little to intense

  • "OH SHIIIT FUCK!!!

HE IS VERY GOOD *--* "

    Calm down.

    He's not THAT good.

They need to give other people of this age with this talent these opportunities.

They seem to only let those people who have been to Music colleges at that age go through. Pah

  • OH SHIIIT FUCK!!!

    HE IS VERY GOOD *--*

  • that was amazing good joband ur very talented

  • It should be more slowly, I think...

  • who's cadenza is this????

  • Fantastic! Who is conducting?

  • Awsome! Great tallent right out over the top!

  • wow! you are amazing!

you play the cello and the piano!

And you are good at both of them!

    Nice job!

  • ugggh you're so good but the orchestra was GRRR!

  • he is good! Really good! But he is just a boy! He don't have mature enough to interpret Mozart or Beethoven of such intensity!

... but he is really good! ;D

  • a BIT FAST!

  • A wonderful accomplished performance Oliver.

Keep at it. You have a wonderful career ahead of you.

  • are u human ??!!!?? YOU'RE SO AMAZING, OMG,

  • I attended to this performance, it was really great. Hi Oliver, hi Lenon!

  • Go kick a football...or throw it...or whatever you do with it in your country

  • What does that mean? I don't know where you are from, but he's American you @#$@$#&^

  • Of course he is from America. Im just wondering whether or not he plays sport? Because I think it might be very good for him once in a while.

Oh and btw, good on you for censoring out that nasty word! It would have been quite inappropriate, seeing as we are in the presence of a 13 year old!

  • this kid is too talented to play sports yuh jam ass @.@

  • Haha - jam ass...nice one mate!

But seriously, this kid better start working out soon...build up those guns or something so he can play some Grieg or Rach or Tchaik.

    Jam Ass...pfft...what a clown!

  • godsownROFLMAOWTFLOLtruth...... LIESSS!!!

  • Hahahaha

    Say something else! Go on!

  • im so sorry if u nevr were talented at anything, and all u cud do was play sports, but if u knew anything, you'd just shut up and enjoy the music.

  • bravoo!! :)

  • ayayay ! Impressive wow ! Thank you for the post..I don't like so much looking at children playing because I find out that they are sometimes trained so much that they loose their own creativity and living their childhood...but no doubt it's quite amazing to see him being such at ease on the piano at this age ! I would like to see him on the cello you said ?

  • I saw this guy play cello! He's amazing!!

  • It reminds me Glenn Gould when very young. Incredibly pianis this boy will be.

  • LOL NO

  • lil genius

  • Technically he has the right stuff but it is still a mechanical rendition. There is no heart or emotion yet. HOWEVER: Give the kid a break, though! He has a solid if forced interpretation but he needs to fall in love, then out of love, then pine a little, suffer, and THEN he should revisit the piece! I would enjoy hearing him play it again in five years!

  • I don't agree at all. I think he plays very musically with much expression. It is Mozart. He plays in style and very mature.

  • @Hemyola I agree totally ..you can hear the graceful and elegant use of dynamics which are imho the hallmarks of a mature player in any musical genre.I was paying keen attention to this particularlyduring the cadenza and for me he was right on the money :-)

  • hahaha wth lol

  • i agree with you ther are pieses you just cant play so young but he tuched my heart no daubt...

  • I'm 12 and im grade 4 piano playing pirates of Caribbean etc but I do thing that it is not good for young people to play in big concerts with an orchestra, most of their parents are people who force there children to do everything.

  • It is true about many kids. Not Oliver though. He is never forced. He does not practice much piano. With him it is just his love and talent. He does whatever he wants.

  • @Hemyola Oh that's good to hear :-)

  • oliver is far too "self-motivated". he does NOT need anybody to force him into things lol

also oliver's mother is a terrific mother, she would only "encourage". as far as i know it is oliver's determination and talent that keeps things afloat. were he a "forced" child then he would not show such great musicality. also you just need to watch oliver's great smile at the end of any of his vids to realize that his love for music is genuine!

  • @SirArky This often appears to be the sad reality for alot of child prodigies

  • ............ show off

  • HOw old is he now (Aug. 2008)?

  • i like this piece so much!!!!!!!

  • offstar24, How can you judge someone simply by their age as to their ability to understand a piece, He has certainly spent a considerable amount of time learning to play. In fact everyone's understanding of music (Especially Classical) is different, so id have to argue there is no 'correct' interpretation. :-) Well played in my opinion.

  • amazing!

  • Just amazing!

  • Don't miss Oliver Aldorf playing Schubert's Arpeggione sonata for cello. Amazing on both instruments! I wish Oliver a long and successful career.

  • I dont think hes better in composition than in playing the piano? But hes an excellent Player

  • lol....ive found my twin...except im a girl....

  • THIS KID IS VERY A MASTER

  • I am very impressed Mr Oliver Aldort! Very well-played with maturity in the reading. Hope to see you going far.

  • WOW he is amazing

  • wow u dont know how much passion needs 2 be in this world and u sure did it

  • child prodigy...

  • he plays from the heart...that is a thing called TALENT and no everybody has that. Those people born with that and it's almost impossible developed during your life IF YOU ARN'T TALENT.

  • Woah, im 13 too and i've been playing since i was 4 and been in the conservatory since i was 9 but oh my god your amazing!

  • This is wonderful!

  • Yes his playing does amaze me. A little too fast though. He has a very good teacher, but I woudn't call him a genius. I'm 12 years old and i'm sitting diplomas in piano this year and i practive 2 hours a day. And to fogge.. he should not be a child prodigy. Thank you

  • Bro, it's okay, there will always be someone better then you, always. You feel threatened by this kid's talent, but don't be. Just practice yourself; he's very talented, I know, because I'm a prodigal pianist myself. But there are millions better then me... So just practice, and keep practicing, and you'll be great

  • I wish I learned piano at a young age but my parents did not condone my endeavors with music. So I taught myself how to play drums and percussion... that is something either you have or you don't. Very little can be taught to a drummer I think to separate an avg one from a great or even a good one. But I don't believe there will always be someone better. There is a such thing as a best. For drummers it's Buddy Rich. I think for Composition it is Mozart. I love prodigy music though. Enchanting.

  • i know its haunting it sticks in your soul like something always inside u

  • @Mike0071 I was never a prodigy on the piano; in fact I had a hard time reading music and coordinating both hands but that didn't stop me through my love of music to find my own way.

As an autodidact I now after many years have developed the gift to play and improvise by ear in virtually any musical genre or style on several instruments including my voice with considerable facility. Grace a Dieu!

  • wow pfistersarah no one cares

  • he's really good but a little too fast.

  • He's from the Seattle area and plays cello mostly; 1 1/2 hrs/day practice. He does 30 minutes or so on piano to keep loose. I gag.

  • Wow!! Trully awesome!! what excellent performance,

Your name will get very famous soon!!

  • Awesome!

  • Fantastic! I wish I was a child prodigy. Well done!

  • Just wait till this kid hears of Prokofiev or Beethoven. Something else.

  • mozart talent x10 this is!

PLAY IT UPSIDE DOWN.. UPSIDE DOOOOWN! xD gg

  • That's just fucked up... you get what I mean??

    Like... 13 and playing that...

  • keep up your good work

i don't how many other talented pianists out there but if you really feel the music and be passionate bout it, i can tell soon you will be the most SOMEONE!

  • You are brilliant! I wish you luck in your future endevours! :)

  • musica. Its called 'Talent'. Its the only way he can play that well and only practice half an hour a day.

  • most impressive, a virtuoso in the making, any one who has played this would no how much practice it takes to get it to performance standard

    well done, bravo and thankyou

  • A musical prodigy

  • Amazing video you're very talented my friend, you have inspired me to keep making music. Unfortunetly there is a lot of ignorance and indifference about art and classical music in my country, wish there were conservatories and concert halls.

  • in which country do you live?

  • Bravo!

  • This is an artist who deserves to have as many people who watch these videos.

I am unable to understand that you can have as much talent with both instruments, the piano and cello. In all cases bravo. I admire your deeply talented musicians and performers ... Asked, "Olivier Aldort" can you tell me?, Which of the two instruments that you prefer? ...

    I think, know the answer.

Olivier Thank you for your sharing.

    Jacques de Paris

  • predobro je ovo!!!!

  • Perfect!

  • At your age, I was barely playing the Grande Valse Brillante by Chopin; shows just how much better you're then me lol. Props bro. Don't quit like I did...

  • hey.. i'm studying while listening to this... and it worked well. it's as if i ate my book... lol

  • Beautiful piece. Well-played. You are a very talented musician.

  • Praise God, this is too intricate for me to handle. And a young boy doing it, wow!

  • Any one think that maybe it should be the people and children that work hours a day to perfect a insterment, that we should be looking at? Obviously the aldort kid has very much natural talent, And in a message I got from his mom she said that he only practices 2 hours a day. what im saying is there are many childer that work there butts off and never get a tad of attention. now in NO way what so ever am I down saying this Aldort, ( and ya he is one of the best ) Im just saying.

  • My goodness, this is amazing. Truly wonderful. Thank you.

As a musician myself (though not nearly this good) I am curious, how many hours a day do you practice?

  • Piano? Piano is not my main instrument. I don't practice it daily. Sometimes twenty minutes a day, sometimes half an hour. Right before concert maybe an hour.

  • That really wounds my ego. Haha.

Watching that concerto, and hearing that you only give half an hour a day...:P

  • absolutely no gesturing...fantatsic

  • I wish my dad would let me get piano lessons....i want to play it so bad....

  • Outstanding! I love it when this concerto is taken up-tempo... I hate it when it drags along!

Oh my, 4:50... probably my favorite part of the concerto.

And the woodwinds in this orchestra (particularly the double reeds) are in need of some serious help. They were out of tune, and I even heard one of the bassoon players miss 2 or 3 notes! Unacceptable at this level of performance, given the difficulty of the music for the orchestra.

Loved the piano playing though! Awesome!

  • One of my most favourite pieces of all time. Thanks for uploading!

  • pazzesco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing! Althought at times I thought your left hand seemed a little h e a v y...

  • If this is you at 13 you can only get a heck of a lot better! I played mozart when I was 13 too,oh wait that was Mary had little Lamb. heh. The only thing I would say is to work on dynamics, but that might just be the recording. amazing really.

  • GEnius!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oliver you're such an amzing artist! I would like to hear at the second movement too...does a video of this performance exist?

Is there any chance that you play in Germany

both the cello and the piano? You get full house!!! God bless you! And he does!!!

  • Hats off gentlemen...a prodigy!

  • wow! i cant belive your only 13 that was amazig

  • Oliver, How old were you when you first began playing the piano? Do you plan to release a CD?

  • I started lessons when I was six. I played by ear since three. No CDs on piano. Mostly cello.

  • Born talent! I began cello when I was five, but I'm certainly nowhere near your calibre! Absolutely brilliant!

  • who wrote the cadenza?

  • Paul Badura-Skoda

  • Bravo!

  • THIS IS Beautiful!!I'm play a cello, bad now so good

  • i don't get how music like this makes people cry. it makes me all happy and hyper. like as if i ate too much halloween candy. +_+

  • I don't get it. Did I say something wrong?

  • what a heavenly bright talent he have!

i hope only he would perform with a much better orchester.

  • OMG... mouth wide open!

  • wah wah so fast .... is it that fast??? abit too fast leh, cos its allegro... but at least he can play THAT fast. really awesome.

  • this boy is perfect for this piece, as we all know mozart himself was an especially talented child prodigy...

  • Beautiful!! I cried

  • Very talented young man. Great singing tone and technique. Bit too fast for me though!

  • ._. omfg, that kid is awesome D8

  • i love this. i think the way it's played is perfect - i suppose though, i'm often told i race music lol. i suppose it's a matter of opinion, mabey mozart would have wanted it played slower but i don't know

  • His sense of touch is good but again too fast. the tempo marking in the original score is Allegro and is so for a reason. it needs to be fast but not as fast as the Rondo in the 3rd Movement.he plays well but if he slowed it down a little bit it would be perfect. good job kid you play very well :D

  • Way too fast for my taste but absolutely charming.

  • God dammit this guy is so amazing, beautiful. i wanna be like him

  • Yes, I think he was in a hurry, because it is not that fast. Maybe they were late for the next movement. Oh, and let me tell you, he changed some things from the concerto.

  • it's a pity it's played that fast. congratulations for your skills

  • very nice and powerful sound, i'm impressed. but it's way too fast, even

though it's pretty much perfect, he plays too fast, we don't have the time to hear every note, every sound...

  • its not bad, too fast though. and wheres the rest of the concerto? he deserves best wishes.

  • very good

  • Is it really this fast??

  • no. it's just right. it's a movement of great drive and urgencey. a duel (c.f. Don Giovanni) doesnt occur leisurly. or does it.

  • hes better than a lot of pros. Lots!!!

  • :0 wow

  • Yea, it is called a cadenza. Well done, Oliver. This was played alright but you did speed a bit from here to there. I play the Beethoven cadenza which is also good. I'm not sure you should have posted this. The VCM probably weren't supposed to have this recording released. xx

  • he also plays the cello tooo..

  • We can only imagine the sound produced by the child prodigy that is Mozart. But watching this recording, it's not too hard imagining when we have true prodigies alive today.

    Well done.

  • Fantastic!!!!!!

  • This is a tremendous performance, very inovative and yet rahter humble approach to the piece, for someone his age. Excellent job. I was wondering, twhom does the cadence belong to, if i'm not mistaken it's not Mozart's? Is it Oliver's?

  • Mozart did not write a cadence for this concerto (or I would have played it.) I used the cadence of Paul Badura-Skoda.

  • Indeed, Cadences weren't used to be written cause it was normal that the one who played also knew how to improvise/compose that cadence, it was sometimes also used to show the pianists talent while he improvises :)

    Btw, u play awesome!

  • Cadenza, not cadence. Beethoven wrote a great one for that piece (and movement).

  • I am really impressed! This boy certainly has what it takes to become a really great musician! The sign are all there! Good luck!

  • is that the same guy who is playin´ the cello? thats unbelievebale.... he also conducts... is he doing also a 3rd instrument ?

  • no third instruments. He composes. He just won the national USA MTNA competitions for junior strings.

  • Are you going to post a video of Oliver's recent performance of the Schumann Cello Concerto? How did it go? Lot's of us would love to see it!

  • Oliver's cello concerto with Skagit Symphony is now on youtube too. Enjoy.

  • I think he is absolutely fabulous.Goodluck!
