Then Williams, Gregson and Lloyd left in the late 80s followed by last original David Brett in 1990. Kaye & Howard carried on The Flying Pickets name with a new line-up. Sometime in the mid 1990s they recruited Michael Henry. In the late 90s Kaye and Howard left and Henry continued using the name The Flying Pickets that morphed into the band you see in this vid.
They have some talent. What they really lack is the life experiences - the soul - the spirit - of the original group. When the original group sang this, they were quite a bit older (30's and 40's) than these kids (teenagers and twenty-somethings). These kids think they can make up for that with stylizations and rifs. All of the talent can never make up for the lack of soul.
Rip-off merchants of the highest degree! How can they use the name and have a clear conscience when they go to sleep at night?? Couldn't they come up with an original name? I am sure there have been people who have gone to concerts expecting to see the original group and been extremely disappointed. I know I would be if I turned up and it was these shower of idiots

Now, the real originals - well, to know them was to love them, but then, you had to appreciate witty and creative theatre and have a bit of political nous.
I loved this back in the 80's when it first came out. Very cool harmonies. I still love the original video...but this isn't the original gang is it? They're very, very good...but not as good as the original.
This is the band who are today recognised as the official Flying Pickets but contains none of the original line up who took this song to number 1 in the UK back in 1983 and boy does it show.
