go on the internet and see how many people die in the USA EACH DAY, not just smoking but the population. There are 30million smokers in the USA and the death rate per capita is the same for California as it is for smokers.
I really enjoy how the Aaron Eckhart character has what I call "situational ethics" and has absolutely no problem justifying his actions. Really great, original film.
Whether you smoke or find it the most wickely horrible thing ever in existence (I've never smoked, probably never will, but I don't have a problem with it,) one thing that is NOT for debate.
Nick. Naylor. Is. AMAZING!
As is Aaron Eckhart! (And does that opening title song get stuck in anyone else's head?)
for those that actually want to watch this movie: don't start watching it here as it's cleverly missing part 3 (and probably more but don't care to continue after finding out)
@hinatarocks88888 It wouldn't be nearly as funny, or even the same kind of movie. And LOL, good job with the spin there: Claiming ethical equivalency between a "good" and "bad" cause and then turning it into an issue of political correctness, using people's resentment toward perceived encroachment on freedom. xD Haha.
@hinatarocks88888 Are you kidding?! That *is* what they have! Every politician and lobbyist, both for and against, is a Nick Naylor. You never admit fault... you never say "We were wrong", becuase that is what gets remembered... nothing else.
This is why for instance Greenpeace is still concidered a credible voice in the nuclear power debate despite them not having a single digit correct for the past 30 years when it comes to facts. It's all spin...
@tubub Less humour more reminding us of what is evil, helps provide both a good movie on the surface while an incredibly controversial depth point. Both got 9/10 on my list
Firearms industry? Firearms aren't an addictive substance, and they serve as a deterrent for criminals, which is why I endorse gun bans, so the robbing, raping, and murdering is much safer and easier for me. Maybe if they banned cars(which kill more people than guns do), women and small children wouldn't be able to get away from me, so I support that too.
Why are the tobacco companies always being challenged by the gov. when everyone knows that smoking kills??? It's up to people to decide whether or not to smoke, not anyone but themselves are responsible.
@LeOceanLia but they are run by the government.. you pay to buy cigarettes, and if you want help in quitting you pay for nicabate, if you don't make it and so happen to get sick you pay for medical assistance.. it's a never ending selfish quest for money
@dethrock01 How is this lol? Lobbyist in washington are a big problem. Obama has said it himself. I'm tired of companies hiring people to give stuff and throw parties for congressmen in order to get favors back. It's a big problem and you aren't educated if you're not aware of the corruption in Washington.
@LeOceanLia thats just stupid. Why regulate anything than, from ex to cocaine, let it al be decided by the people if they wanna use it or not. well the problem with that, especially in Europe where we have the universal health coverage is when someone gets cancer state (tax payers) pay for his treatment. So i totally support the public push to stop smoking, and gov`s should do much more
The first time I heard that first part of the interview, I flipped out. I live in Racine, WI! Not that popular of a town, but the Johnson Co. is here. We make Pledge!
You guys should watch V for Vendetta.

@rukon1234 The song is "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette)" - Tex Williams, recorded in 1947.

@rukon1234 He is only referring to the 48 states of the mainland U.S. excluding Alaska & Hawaii

@rukon1234 it's referring to the 48 Contiguous United States, i do believe.
