  • thx...alot...hahha....

  • how did u go about starting to add the colour?

  • Whats that sponge like brush your using at 1:52?

  • @Shaydo100 From what I can remember it was a simple, soft, texture brush. I don't think I still have it. But you can find lots of them online for free.

  • astonishhing! May I ask you where you get the swatch set?

I love this too bad i'm terrible with grayscale painting

  • @alston2reel I downloaded it from Charlie Bowater, she has a deviantart page and a blog too. You should be able to find the swatch there. :)

  • @MikeNashArt Thanx a lot ^_^

  • Wow.... this is alone is incredible, not just how you coloured it, but also how you captured the charisma…

I saw the final piece on your site and the environment you added is absolutely fantastic! How many years of experience and education did it take to get you to this mind-blowing -level?

  • @Doodleedeedoodleedoo Thank you, you're very kind. I've been drawing since I was young and spent about 8 years in art education. Since then I've spent 4 years working professionally. Despite this I still get days when I can't draw anything that looks good! I find that the most important factor is observation. It's one thing to look at something, but to draw it effectively you need to SEE it, try to understand why it looks, moves, feels the way it does and how it interacts with it's surroundings.

  • Thank you so much for posting. You're provided much needed knowledge and inspiration.

  • @saqquara I'm flattered my art effects you in such a positive way!

  • @mangaboi95 Use a soft airbrush on a low opacity when using Overlay and Multiply layers. It'll help you gently build colour etc. Hard edged brushes tend to produce harsh marks which look too strong, too bright or too dark which looks ugly in most cases.

  • are you using a multiply layer in the beginning

  • @shawslayer Yes you're right. The B&W is the foundation, to make sure I'm getting the tones correct. Then rough colour is added using the Multiply layer. Finally refining the colour with a normal opaque layer on top. You won't normally see me working with over 4 layers before I flatten it all down again.

  • yes. . . finally! :D

    This made my day! ^^

I always enjoy your art! :3

  • Yes, I have been waiting for so very long :D

I love how this peice is turning out ^^

  • @TheRiseofshadows Thank you! Can't believe it's been 2 months since the last update! Commissions have been keeping me busy i'm afraid. However Part 4 will be online later today too, if all goes well.
