there the BTLs like Steve Meade had and i would post pictures and stuff but i dont have a camera or anything to show them off i only have one installed still trying to figure out where to put the other 2 my car aint that big
which one? lol, the one in the vid was 4.8cuft after port AND displacement. tuned to 28hz. only 11 sq. in. of port area per cubic ft of volume.
after that was the 2 15" Q build, port now goes through the sound deck. box was 7.2cuft after port and displacement, tuned to 31.5 hz. alternator was going out when I went to the show, so during play, voltage was 11 volts :( still did 147 on music tho :)
it was a great deck, but i've upgraded to the 9887 since...and current deck is straight up nasty, built in 24db slope 3-way active x-overs, 4 volt pre-outs, it's pretty badass
2) I bet it woulda been the loudest trunked single 15 you ever heard...
3) Actual build (this was a test) was two Fi Q's on a 3000watt competition amp, (did high 140's below 40hz on music for 30 sec. out of a trunk and if you don't think that's impressive, you don't know wtf ur talking about.)
4) yet again on to a new build why can people on youtube not just take a vid for what it is and be done?????
You need to build the box yourself for Fi's because theyll just tear apart pre-built 15" boxes. Plus that is a very well made box which probably enhances the sound of that Fi.
lets get over the dynamat comments....i have two of these 15's now, the single 15 build was incomplete, I've now laid about 180 sq ft of raamat and dynamat, ensolite, and some truck bed lining. now almost zero rattle and of course the shit quakes....new vid coming up next week!
p3's? ouch no man Fi ten times better especially for the lows, rockford subs sound ok, used them in the past and still have one in the garage, but can't handle near the beating or play the same lows as Fi PERIOD
really? that works? wow you take me for a moron or somethin? pretty obvious the build wasn't finished and it was only for fun for about a month, there's about 7 k in product going in now, and there is actually three layers of raamat, and a layer of ensolite over the entire floor, ceiling, trunk, and doors, who do you think you are jumping on someone's vid and calling names? i'm sure you could take many lessons from me on car audio so STFU you pussy you could only dream of systems i build
raamat is lower effiency than dynamat, and layering does not work like you'd think it would, Layering will not give you increased rating AT ALL. it actually resonates worse. My dad works at a company that makes damping so I'd know my shit, trust me, Dynamat is the best besides stuff like Seiskusi and bimast bomb. All others are cheap crap that barely does .2+ effiency.
yeh, Scott Atwell built this sub, the designer of RE, Fi is his company. The new Fi subs are probably def. better than RE, but there aren't really any str8 comparisons. RE are pre-built and bought as-is, Fi's are custom built per order per customer, so it's all what you want.
no shit, i did that setup to see how loud i could get it. it's in a sealed box right now, just finishing up the fiberglass/bondo job on the kicks then i'll finish the trunk, then sell it. It's an SQ system now, fosgate 3sixty.2, hybrid audio legatia's, the works
yeah i heard it sounds better in sealed but i was wondering if it still gets real low on rap songs? all i have to compare to it is a brahma i don't know anyone with an Fi in my area
oh it still gets hella low, just sounds a lot cleaner and not as loud, still very loud though! if you really want to see what it can do though, then do a box about 4-4.5 cuft ported to 30 hz. i had a 4.8cuft tuned to 28hz and was flatout disgusting, the 4 cuft to 30 hz would be even louder
well, personally i'd say sounds better sealed, that's usually why one would do a sealed application, for sound quality. Of course it dropped like a mofo in the ported box. Just make sure you set your gains correctly and you should be alright, if in a larger ported box, then BP power would help, if you go sealed, then no need for it, remember woofers handle more power sealed.
Ok, well new system will be as listed... currently... alpine ida-x001 fosgate 3sixty.2 sony clie nz-90 (to control processor) Hybrid audio Legatia 4's and 1's mach5 audio 6.5 woofers in doors fosgate p450.4, p400-4 and p1000-1bd fi 15" Q SEALED (was ported) the 15" Q and p1000-1bd will be replaced with an 18" BTL fully loaded on a sundown audio saz-3000d also added will be two pairs of hybrid-audio legatia 8's, and two more 4's and two more 1's oh yes, new vehicle Mercury Mountaneer
are you happy with the 15" Fi Q? i am going to be getting one Q for my celica but am unsure if i want to go 15" or 12". do you think a ported box or sealed box sounds better with your sub? I was going to do a 30 Hz tuned ported box.
I absolutely love the woofer, best i've ever used/seen/heard!! if you want musical, either go sealed, or a large ported box, just depends on how much room you have and what you want. If you just want plain loud, then higher tune and smaller ported box, just not real musical then.
I'M DUMB?!! LOL wtf are you talking about Fi subs don't flex? OH OK WAIT i should have labeled it 15" Fi Q excursion, which is commonly also called flex. What I'm assuming you are trying to catch me on, of course this is probably giving you too much credit, is the technicality that "flex" could be the actual cone flexing or "deforming" when played loudly, which cheap horrible subs do not, and Fi woofers do not. anytime you want to debate car audio knowledge let me know, SO STFU MORON!!!
ok first off. flexing is a term to describe hitting different lows at one time. which fi subs dont. only 2 subs on the market truely "flex". look at the jl w7. they flex. if you do look notice that they wave in more than one direction. normal subs just hit out.
lol. i dont want a flame war here so i wont respond further. that flexing you see is caused by a crappy video camera with a poor frame rate. jls magical w7 is not a wet noodle; sorry.
Three Six Mafia- Late Night Tip, couple other songs that really beat are Trae- In the hood normal and slowed down are both awesome, and Yung Joc- Beat It Up and of course anything Young Jeezy!
I have nowhere to meter my car, and work too much and don't have enough money to drive 45 minutes or more to get metered and when get there pay 100 bucks. I'm building a sealed box for it now anyway considering i'm ordering my hybrid legatias next week and starting the SQ build. BTW: the dreadnaut is not even designed for a sealed box, it's not an SQ sub like my Q, and would never touch the the Q's quality.
another thing Fi has over mmats is the customization, every Fi woofer is custom made by hand to fit the customers application for what they want. Fi- infinitely amazing
Fs is lower on the Fi Q, it plays lower, Fi motor structure is slightly longer on the Q then the dreadnaut, with larger xmax means moving more air. db rating of 1w/1m means a true 87.7 db sensitivity on Fi Q, the 91 db rating on the dreadnaut is not tested at 1w/1m most likely tested same as most mainstreams which means take off ~6 db
SOME mmats and Fi, yes, most Scott Atwell woofers use that basket, Fi, RE, AA, and it has of course been copied/parts bought/etc. from Scott. motor structure and voice coils are different.
well this is all nice and ive heard all this at school it what it comes down to is that speaker in a certain car....and enclosure....ill take my dreadnaut make it more musically pleasing than that fi will ever be then i can turn around it straight drop spl's higher than you receive in your infinity....i kno my dbs are higher cuz u wont tell me yours....plus im in a hatch so your im the wrong league
fosgate p1000-1bd, eventually will be running a fosgate power series t1500-1bd, and a t600-4 with either my current p450.4 or a t400-2 on some hybrid legatias, active setup with the 3sixty.2 processor from fosgate (working on an SQ setup for SQ competition next season
lol you say moving air but not loud? you haven't sat in my car, woofers don't do all that crap to a car and not be loud. only thing you've shown is a little vibration of your review, wow did that with my stock bose system. oh and where is your vid of the T-shirt? you said you would do that???
u kno its not a good idea to use the wall as one of the ports walls....u should have it withing the voicecoils width from from the speaker and bottom of port shoul dbe at least voice coil width away from back wall....but i give it to you u are movin air but dis shit aint loud
