  • Charity Hospital is worth saving and it will save Louisiana tons on money. LSU only wants to waste money. Why run people out of their houses just to build something that will bankrupt the state of Louisiana?

  • Tare it down. I want the new LSU hospital.

  • Please rebuild Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

  • Why aren't we utilizing this buiding? We would be wasting money on a new LSU medical center and forcing people out of their neighborhoods and waiting years for it to be finished in midcity. We should capitalize on what we already can efficiently use. I think that is what makes New Orleans such a beautiful thing in a post-Katrina world. Being able to take the old and make it brighter and better through renovation and restoration, not reformatting.

  • my birthplace.....

  • I hope they bring charity back. Haven't we earned the right to keep a big part of our history alive.

  • i went to that hospital a few days ago and it was very creepy

  • here here.. I like.. lets do it!!

  • i was born there

  • I for one hope that this happens.

Just have to remember that this is Louisiana, and that is a helluva big price tag. It's going to take a while to get the funding, probably at the expense of other public health programs in the state.

  • The banner reads: "National Football Champions and Champions in Healthcare". Really?! Louisiana ranks 49th in several parameters of healthcare. When will these knuckle dragging neanderthals realize there is more to an instiution of higher learning than tackle football.

  • LSU has a good med school.

  • The U.S. News and World Report "Best Medical School" Rankings in 2008 leave LSU School of Medicine as "UNRANKED" in regards to research and primary care.

  • If they want to build a new hospital, then they should be on derelict or empty land and not demolish people's homes.

  • that whole area is a shit hole. there's nothing to "preserve" in that area. I really hope LSU gets its way. Stupid preservationist groups like this are the reason New Orleans lags behind. It's time for a NEW facility, not the renovation of an old piece of shit. I've seen Charity and that whole area many times and LSU's plan would REVITALIZE 70 acres....SEVENTY acres. I can guarantee you that the homes that will be demolished are pieces of shit anyway and it will be a good thing to see them go

  • It seems wrong, to demolished this building and to demolish mid city historical homes to clear land for a new build.

  • unfortunately, I live in new orleans and I know this will never happen.

the future of healthcare in new orleans is questionable.. post-Katrina that is.

and shut the fuck up cukermit, you have no fucking clue.

  • They were talking about re-opening Charity Hospital tonight on the news! Jindal wants to do it and is seeking the $490 million to rebuild it.

  • That would be amazing!

  • no it wouldn't

  • They have to build some type of hospital, dont to be negative.

  • yes and LSU's plan for a new facility is better

  • I hope it happpens!!!!! This is/was and can be the best hospital again in the state!!!!

  • Not enough money in it for the looters who run our government now. They'll build a new hospital, it'll take ten years and ten times as much money as renovating Big Charity but it's all about corruption and how much money can be funneled to Republican cronies.

  • Is this really going to happen? I really hope it does!
