I got this laptop, I had no problems until now since i have installed windows 7. this laptops heats up way to fast now.. even just browsing the internet it heats and if i play games like mw2 i could probally cook few eggs on my laptop. Need a solution

Had bought a new cooling pad last month which already got spoilt because of the extreme heat generating.

Listen guys... all you have to do is buy a small fan (probably cheaper than the laptop heater) and tilt it using books or something so it blows right on your laptop. Put your laptop on top of two books but leave most of the bottom of the laptop free from clutter so the air from the fan can blow underneath to cool the components. I purchased a laptop cooler and I will never do so again because it broke and it DOES NOT COOL THE LAPTOP. Trust me... USE A FAN. It keeps my p7805 very cool.

I got the P-7915u FX, and it is a beast. It can handle anything I throw at it including Crysis on High, Oblivion on max, MW2 on max, GTAIV on max, almost anything. It's a great price for the quality and Windows 7 64bit is a great OS. Love the laptop.

So you've got no complaints on the P-7915? I ask, because that's precisely the model i've been thinking of purchasing, that or the Alienware M15x, but it's like $500 more for SLIGHTLY better specs and a glowing alien head. Decisions, decisions.

I've been eye-balling the ASUS G50/G60/G72 Series for a couple months now. Best buy offers a great deal on them. However, I think this package takes the cake. I know they offer it with a GTX260M so I'd take that over the 9800 card.

get this cause well there two asus g50vt theres the g50vt-x5 and the g50vt-x1 both or good but this is much better this gateway has a rly nice graphics card geforce 9800 and the processor could be better but its still a good one and plus the x1 has smaller batter 6 cell so i would just get this one

@nejikon I have this laptop, had it for a year and a half and I can run every game to date including Assassin's creed 2 at max settings no AA very smoothly @ 1920x1200 ( yea I got the higher resolution screen at the time) did a CPU upgrade and that's it. Total investement 1,3k. Result = AWESOMENESS.

The laptop does get hot underneath from the hard drive and GPU, but it does not get no more than 120 Degrees which is normal. If you check your laptops temp. and its between 120 - 135 Degrees, don't Fret, that's normal. If you want to cool it down just buy a laptop cooler like Antec's for example. Since this is a powerful laptop it is going to get warm, it's the same way with Alienware's laptops and Asus Gaming Laptops. But there's no need to be alarmed when it gets hot underneath it.

@TechGuyGamer 120-135 degrees ? YOu are dead wrong ! , i have the gateway 7809 fx series , and in games like gta 4 the gpu temperature is 70 to 75 degrees , not 120 - 135 degrees lol at 135 degrees if your laptop runs like that , the solder joints of the gpu will fuck upp :))

If you don't want to buy a laptop cooler for it, which would be the best thing to do. A simple fix, just put a somewhat thick book, like a dictionary for instance, flat on the table and then rest the back part of the laptop where the battery is on the book allowing air to get underneath. That can drop the temperature a few degrees.

The heat management isn't too bad but I went ahead and bought the Antec cooler so the Motherboard would last longer and to help during long hours of gaming. As for it being durable, with any gaming laptop, treat it like a Nuclear Warhead. The laptop can survive a good drop off a table but not too say nothing won't chip off.

lol i got this laptop and insted of coming with the western digital black scorpio it came with a hitachi 7k320, which is worse in some areas, and my hdd temp is at around 46 degrees celsius idle and after about an hour or two of gaming its at 56 degrees, i think tigerdirect just jipped me with the refurb and gave me a worse hdd :(

You could Over Clock to get more speed but I don't really think it would be smart due to cooling and power. If you do it you just might shorten the life of the laptop..... or overheat it and then you smell burning plastic

Because that's 300 bucks more. A tigerdirect "refurbished" laptop is in excellent condition. It's not what you think. There are no scratches, the OS is new, and there is no visible usage on it. It's basically a new laptop without the original box.

Do you encounter any small keyboard lag when in windows? Every time I push a key, it takes about a microsecond to process. I dunno if it's just me or the computer, but it's more noticable in WoW and in some games, so I dunno.

The battery life while playing games is the same on this gaming laptop as it is on Alienwares's and Asus. About 1 Hour and 15mins, depending on what brightness you have it on it can give or take a few minutes. The internet does great, the wireless internet card built in is very strong. I use Mozilla Firefox web browser so it does great.

The Laptop does have a glossy screen which I like. It does give it a sharper look and doesn't make the screen look dull or gray.

I've had this laptop for about two weeks so far (1920x1200 version) & it has been able to handle any game I throw at it. This includes all of the most demanding games currently on the market thus proving this to be a great mobile gaming rig (I look forward to the next family function now). However I do recommend on using a NZXT cooler to keep things cool & headphones since the onboard speakers aren't too great.

This laptop hasn't been out that long so I've had it for about 3 1/2 months now. No problems have occurred and Gateway has done a great job on this Laptop series. As for the other people gateways died on them, that could have been self caused or just something simple like the battery going bad or the laptop over heating while its sitting on there lap blocking the vents. But I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yes, you can play fallout and crysis with all the graphics settings to max, just no Anti-las filters. But thats due to memory leaks in crysis. But to do this your resolution must be 1024x768 or 1152x846. But for the most part you can get the eye candy the games deliver on this laptop.

None, No problems at all. Gateway did a very good job at installing the drivers for every component on the laptop. But be sure to check by Nvidia for there laptop Graphics drivers.

Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit. Which is great for Graphics hungry games such as Crysis. I can play Crysis Maxed out with all settings on Enthusiast and it still plays Super Smooth. Plus the GeForce 9800mGTS helps a lot with the 1Gb of Video Ram.
