There is a mentality among a lot of cops that since it is "non-lethal" they can use it for any situation. They should use as much discretion with a taser as they do with a rean gun. It is a tool to gain control of an extremely dangerous situation. It should not be used to "get someone's attention".

@IndianaJesusfreak tn cops will use it for fun and then laugh about it but the problem is all tn cops want to be the next walking tall Buford pussier and become a movie star its there dream to follow a tn sheriff who carried a big stick to whip people with until the people got there nerve back and voted him out of office.but instead of the stick they carry the tazer and use it on people, dogs, children but mostly on the poor and helpless.just my opinion

Looks like the cops are the same there as here. They use their tasers like a toy, looking for the opportunity to use their ray guns. They killed a guy here because he brandished a deadly...stapler, and the six cops responding claimed they feared for their safety.

i know the whole story the cop asked the mom if he could use his taser after he decided that the little girl was being to combative to overpower(ya right) the mom said yes the cop used his taser. This is still no excuse for the cop he has been trained to fight the most harden criminals but he can not handle a 10 year old. There were other options that is why he has been asked to resign, and he has been suspended.

I think some of them just don't think, haven't been tazed themselves to know what it is like, or they are crazy enough think tazing is an acceptable form of punishment for children.
