  • They don't come any better than these two any where.Wonderful.Performers.

  • theres nothing like this!

it bewilds me every time i here it..

humans can actually write somethingso fine...

    its breathtaking

  • Fucking hell. I just got up and gave Colm a standing ovation as I sit here in my room listening to this. If my girlfriend was here I'm sure she would agree.

  • why did they cut the title song short? thats not the way they do it in london, is it?

  • @TheTitanic4 bc its a 'special' (featured scenes from other musicals too) that they did, thus it was condensed.

He also did a few songs from Les Mis that night.

  • Colm is by far the best Phantom!

  • Such a tender voice he has.

    Beautiful.

Love iiiiitttt :D especially during Music of the Night

    AHHH! :))))

I love this musical-- one of my favs :)

    Thanks for posting this video!

  • all have to say is DAMN!!

  • @MusicGirl3181 me too damm the phantom is good

  • I like his accent, but the pahntom doesn't have beard

  • So do I!

And about the beard: what does it matter after all?

Wilkinson is just so breathtakingly amazing, thrilling and brilliant, that i don't mind the beard at all!

  • okay i was at the play when she took off the phanton of the operas mask off i almost screamed he a infection on the side of his face and i was all bloody but then he got his mask back and then my mom's sister said it was sad because he was all left alone. poor guy.

  • Colm's acting is simply electrifying !!! He has something what makes this performance thrilling !!! I love it

  • Colm's acting is simply electrifying !!! He has something what makes this performance thrilling !!! I love it

  • God... Don't know what but there's something wrong with the overload of "sing!!"-s and "yes!"-s when the girl is "screaming"... Nice tho I like seeing alternate versions from time to time.

  • I must agree with you, I was actually laughing aloud at how many times he says "yes" and "sing" and by the end of it, he's got quite the facial expressions going!

  • Rebecca had a beautiful Bel Canto style in the hight notes that I'm not hearing. Not to say that Lisa isn't beautiful because she is.

  • I think that might be Lisa Vroman and not Rebecca Caine.

  • I'ts funny that in les miz Colm plays Rebbeca's father.

  • WOW, I wish I was there seeing it!

  • holy crap, that man, that voice, that character...SO incredibly well performed. *standing O, and a little swoon*

Wilkinson is the greatest phantom; the greatest passion, and the most unique and incredible voice.

I think he needed the beard because he was playing a character from another play later on in the show, for which the beard was important.

    besides....beards are sophisticated, 8D

  • @lovemewithyourvoice

He played the original Jean val Jean in Les Miserable

  • @lovemewithyourvoice

He had a beard when he originally played the Phantom during previews, too.

  • Phantom doesn't have a beard...

  • this brings out so many memories. best musical ever.

  • XD omg, i fell in love with that dudes voice!!!

  • names please???

  • The Phantom: Clom Wilkinson

    Christine: Rebecca Caine

    Roaul: Michal ball

I hope this helps. The Phantom in this video is PHANtastic! he really is! he is in on par with MC!

  • THANKSSS!!!

  • omg thats the cast of les miserables

    lolz thats so freaky

    Colm played Val Jean

    Rebecca played Cossett

    and Michal played Marius

  • I saw this show in England and it's awesome, well done!!

  • i'm pretty sure these are my TWO FAVORITE phantom performers....like i think i might like this lady even more than Brightman..and i LOVE Brightman..and the phantom is terrific :)

  • I saw this show a while back, and it really is amazing to see live. Really if it comes to your town don't pass up the chance to see it!

  • i rly like that phantoms voice

  • the phantom doesnt wear a hat

  • yes....he does.

  • in the movie, your right. But the film of phantom was awfal, and was nouthing like the stage show. The stage show come first, and was and IS phantastic! look it up:)

  • Wow...Colm Wilkinson just gives me chills as the Phantom...and as Jean Valjean, too! His "Bring Me Home" made me cry!

  • Comment removed

  • is christine claire moore? cuz i know the phantom is colm wilkinson, aka, jean valjean!!!! anyway, this is awesome!!!

  • this christine is lisa vroman. She's awesome!

  • wow! shes really good!

  • do i have to be tenor, barritone or base to sing the phantom part.

  • Tenor or possibly Baritone :)

  • Definately baritone. He has some lower notes, but definately some higher ones.

  • well, imgetting to the low notes pretty well, but it is hard to hear them. im only 14 and voice is starting to change. And now soe of the high notes are straining my voice =(

  • Just keep singing everyday. It will help keep your high notes. I'm 17 and i had lost my high range, but i kept singing my high range and now i have it back. :)

  • don't fret over it, voices change all the time, same thing is happening to me too, but im 15, my awesome music teacher said not to worry because your voice is going to kepp on changing for years and years to come!

  • I want to see this on broadway SOOO BADDDD.

  • u soo shod,i saw it on this monday,i cried my eyes out-so beautiful and powerful =)

  • i saw it! it as AMAZING! i think it was the best experience of my life!

  • Wow! How did you get this video? Do you have the whole thing coz i love the stage show and hate having to watch the movie when i want a phantomfix!!

  • someone needs to upload the whole thing and if it is on here someone plz tell me! never watched The Phantom Of The Opera and i really want to now! plz!

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!! The actress who plays Christine here also played Joanna in the Sweeney todd Concert!

  • Wow! Lisa Vroman's POTO cadenza really is the loveliest I have heard, and Colm's "Soar" and "Be!" in MOTN are the greatest I have heard

  • omg these people are amazing!!!!! i wish i could see them live...

    >:)

  • well u know the phantom!! he was the guy from les miserables!!! valjohn(can't spell it right :( ) the one with michael ball!!

  • Colm Wilkinson, right?

  • Yes you are right!! :) Colm Wilkinson from the dream cast of phantom of the opera. I have been listening to him since I was very little! :) OMG!! I saw the new broadway cast in the TWIN CITIES!! a few days ago!!!!!!!!!!! I melted at "his Voice"!! I love you ERIK!!!!

  • I'm going to see it on my birthday which is very soon! I am so excited! I'm going to see it in the Twin Cities too! How is the new cast? :)

  • They were really cool!!! (even raul!!!(hehehehe)) But be prepaired for loud bangs and booms!!! Oh and fire!!! I loved it to death!! I think you will too. Erik.............. sorry I went somewhere where no one but me should go, lol. Write back and tell me what you think and what you bought! KK?

    Sincerely,

    Phantomess1870 (Gabby)

    (-}_-)

  • I saw it! It was the most wonderful thing I have ever seen in my entire life! You were right, there were a lot of big bangs and booms, but it was all amazing! I want to see it over and over again! The cast was awesome too! Especially the Phantom, I melted when he started singing. I bought a sweatshirt, a program, and a bracelet. I would have bought out the whole thing if I had the money! It was enchanting.

  • Yeah, Colm. He's the best :)

Too bad it wasn't Rebecca Caine though o_O

  • Wasn't she the chick who played Johanna in the Sweeney Todd concert???

  • yes

  • The phantom kinda reminds me of the lion from the Wizard of Oz for some reason. Weird, I know. I think it's his voice lol

  • Omg i have always thought that haha. Thought it was just me....

    Beautiful song, beautiful voices <3

  • In England? Awesome!

  • Compared to the phantom on the current US tour, this guy isn't great. The woman is very good though.

  • WOW They were HGREAT. I think she is better than Emily Rossan. sp? ANd his voice was excellent too. I'm going to see it in Hartford CT next week and I'm curious to see how it's going to be.

  • I went to see it in Denver on the same tour, and it was AMAZING! Better than the movie and even better than this. You're gonna love it!

  • on a lighter note, her voice is stunning

  • why "rank" the cast over previous/future casts?

they all contribute to a different feel per version and wouldn't be hired to perform the play in front of large crowds if they "sucked"... c'mon people.

and it's not like any of you are any better or you wouldn't dare make comments like those (considered unprofessional in opera to give anything other than support for fellow divas, etc.)

  • itz nothing like it in colorado. the guy who plays the phantom shouldnt be the actor

  • He's actually not that bad.

  • bearded phantom?

  • thats Colm Wilkinson he has a beard bcuz he plays Jean Valjean in Les MIserables

  • Colm Wilkinson was the 1st Actor to play the role of the Phantom in Canada

  • Haha same thing I thought!

  • this song gives me goosebumps. I love phantom

  • Who's the woman who is singing this song?

  • that's Lisa Vroman

  • oooh,, i thought i was Rebecca Caine?

  • lol, I thought so too at first- but looking at previous comments say that she's Lisa Vroman

  • Okay,, thanks anyway;)

  • i love, love love love Rebecca's voice! She seems really concentrated on those last notes, but then again, who wouldn't be...

  • sorry, I meant Lisa Vroman!

  • Colm Wilkinson is the best phantom by far,...and Rebecca Cain compliments his performance,...I bloody love this, the best performance of the phantom i've ever heard!!!! Colm has,...such a beautiful voice....Check out ' bring him home' - les miserables - Gentle, haunting - Amazing.

  • i 100% agree......and another thing is i don't get all these crawford and brightman freaks i mean they sucked.......so it confuses me why people like those two.........its so weird

  • the man sings good....i think but he has the bread... so the man in the movie phantom of the opera does't have bread

  • he has the beard because he also plays Jean Valjean in Les Miserables

  • The guy has a beard...

  • how fast is he going with that boat? and where are the candles? plus this guy kinda sucks ive seen better (other than gerard and micheal)

  • estupendos los dos

  • idc wat u ppl say i think that gerard butler and michael crawford are the best phantoms

gerry cuz he's sexy and a great actor and singer

mike cuz hes a great singer, and he originated the role and made phantom what it is 2day

and you all can take that to the candy shop and buy a giant phantom-shaped lollipop :-)

  • Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions, even when it comes to favorite Eriks...but you know what they say, opinions are like assholes, and personally, yours stinks;]

    Crawford rocks my effin socks!

  • i saw this in toronto a year ago..it was amazing..i the phantom of the opera!!!!its my favourite broadway musical

  • This can't be England, Colm never did it in the West End, he's done Broadway and Canada.

He doesn't sing much does he? He just puffs his words out

  • It was in england if you find a dvd called Hey Mr Producer- you'll see it was Cameron MacIntosh who organised it for the queen's birthday( or something like that)

    =D

  • Oh, the Royal Variety Performance you mean.

  • I think so- i didn't pay so much attention as to where it was- i was just watching all of the acts!

    =D

  • it was a tribute to cameron mackintosh so it was in england for that reason.........even if Colm puffs out words it still sounds good.

  • *applauds* Cool Phantom! He is talented!

Not the actress, but Christine Daae, you are such a jerk.

  • did this christine play as johanna in a version of sweeney todd?

  • Colm Wilkinson needs to shave to play The Phantom of the Opera. And Brent Barrett and Sierra Boggess are better than these two.

  • he needs to shave

  • This is canadian. Colm wilkinson was canadian phantom.

  • This is the Canadian cast in Toronto not England.

  • not one of my favourite phantoms, but i did have the miss fortune of seeing peter cousins a few years back, truly awful, don't know wheather he was having a bad nite? anyone out there who can correct me please get in touch

  • all i remeber is this is from Hey Mr Producer the celebration of the productions of cameron macintosh. i know the phantom is colmn wilkinson of les miserables fame, not sure who christine is played by

  • it was lisa vroman

  • In my opinion Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman will always be the best Phatom and Christine. They both have such amazing talent.

  • yes idd

  • is this theater or part of movie?

  • it's on stage.

  • i think that phantom is michael crawford but we all know that Ramin Karimloo is the best phantom

  • the phantom here has a much better voice because it doesnt stand out too much, but he isn't hot.

  • ooo i knw that voice

    im sure its colm wilkinson

seriously its just valjean singing the poto lol

  • Is it just me or is everything here cut short?? the title song is and then music of the night too? confused...

I'm not too keen on this phantom, and no offence to him but he majorly doesn't look the part, but I enjoyed christine very much, but she's not as good as the lovely girl I saw when I went to see it in london about a year ago.

  • she sings so well!!!!!

  • Very well!

Now I'm pretty sure that I like Michael Crawford MUCH MORE.

  • me too haha

  • he's hopeless what a old duffer

  • i'm sorry, but i cannot stand this phantom, what the hell is going on with him during the cadenza?!

  • I could list everything I hated about this but I don't want to be a total kiljoy (and there probably wouldn't be enough room) I'll just leave it at, I hated everything about it.

  • That phantom is Colm Wilkinson the original Canadian phantom and original Jean Valjean of Les Mis oh and by the way Gerard sucks Colm, Michael Crawford, and John Cudia are the best

  • John Cudia is my favorite.. of course, he's the only one I've seen live..

  • Ok the phantom didn't have a beard. What?!?!?

  • this people sucks big time! gerrard butler is the best phantom of them all<3

  • YESH!!! sing!

  • Sorry but there is KNOW WAY BUTLER SINGS AS WELL AS COLM. Michael Crawford is by far my favorite to because of his mix of power and sensuality and Colm and Michael outdo Butler anyday. Howard isn't to bad either but for "crazychicka16 to rate Butler above Colm voice wise is crazy. At least if she had said Michael and Howard or anybody besides Butler maybe I could take them more serious.

  • shes a good singer, but whats with the accent?

it sounds like she's interchanging between british and american.

  • wow she's good. who is she?

  • Lisa Vroman. She was the first Christine I saw, she was WONDERFUL!!!!!

  • lisa vroman is s good god sends a walkway down from the sky just so she can sing this number!

  • this man cant sing worth shit howard mcgillan is better and aslo gereld bulter god that guy needs to shave as well and h=who herad of a fat phantom must of the phantoms i since were hunky and buff no offense

  • 'fat' as you say it, was how the phantom as originally percieved.

THen the 2004 movie came out, watnign to appeal to teenage girls.

  • Actually, in the original book, the phantom is bony and is said to resemble a corpse. He is the opposite of fat.

  • no one here is talking about gaston's book. this is the musical. i am glad to find another fan who knows it was actually a book (albeit a bit of a messy one) before this musical. but, just so you know, i was talking about the musica, not the book :)

  • ps--the woman playing christine in this video is great in the role; but i do agree that an older woman playing the part can confuse those who are not familiar with the plot

-thats why i think that emmy rossum was such a great find for the part of christine in the phantom movie-she was only 16 when she was cast! and she is such an amazing singer

  • this is a great video that really shows the chemistry between the phantom and christine; which is hard to find, but i still say that i prefer michael crawford playing the phantom. He was the first, and i think the best because he was able to capture both power and sensuality in his voice. colm is good singer, and makes a fair phantom, but simply is not crawford. Yet again, the shoes michael crawford left to fill were huge; so we cant expect another crawford when seeing the musical now.

  • Me encanta este musical!

  • This song isn't even performed live in the musical. It's recorded and they lip-sync.

  • this was the 1st time i had ever seen anything phantom related and i was hooked!! the reason colm has chin hair is that he plays jean valjean in the les miz section and Lisa Vroman is one of THE best christines ever on stage! her age is irelevant! the voice and the acting says it all.xxx

  • I have to say Colm is the best Phantom for me. I think his deeper voice and passion is brillant, if that makes sense. PS this is the best clip of the phantom I've found.

  • that phantom has chin hair :S

  • I'm tired of seeing 40 year old women playing a 16 year old character. You can see the wrinkles from the audience. We don't buy that you're 16.

  • Christine isn't supposed to be 16 years old. Solves that problem.

  • She's supposed to be pretty damned close to 16 and not 40.

  • Ok, I stand corrected... according to the book Le Fantôme de l'Opéra she is supposed to be 18 years old. I suppose that's much closer to 40 isn't it.

  • If you can't get over actresses in their 30's playing this role, I feel quite sorry for you, honestly.

  • kayy,

i know its more convincing to see an 18 year old play the role,

but do you know how hard it is to find an 18 year old who has the right singing capabilities? Lisa Vroman, the christine in this video, is amazing vocally, and even if she dosnt look 18, shes a hell of alot better than any 18 year old. So, stop being so shallow .

  • if there are 18 year olds who can play it it would be amazing to have a voice like that i agree with you.

  • im fourteeen and i can sing it x3 cast me if they're to stupid to handle anyone over the age of 22. LISAVROMAN ROCKS MY FACE!!!!!! shes amazing. deffinitely one of my faves, no no m FAVE

  • Nothing to get over, she's not fooling anyone. It's like Jennifer Love still trying to play 18 It's not realistic. I don't mind older actors. Being in the business myself I can understand (more see than understand since she could be my mother) the pains of aging and the exhilaration she must get from fooling herself into believing she was selected for her youthful looks. I feel sorry for people who just can't accept that they've past their prime Time to start playing roles closer to their age.

  • They jump around pretty quickly, though

  • this was the first show I ever saw. It was 1990 in Vancouver and I was 5. I remember everything about it. I still get goose bumps from watching these clips.

  • The Actors & Actress sung Magnificiently & Awesome!!! Please Never Mind about their age!!! I respect every artist from the bottom of my heart !!!!!!!!! And I am inviting every one to do so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow Christine looks to be in her late 40's and the phantom needs a lipo.. good voices though I guess that's what it counts after all

  • who is that christine??

  • lisa vroman, the best christine i've seen live!

  • shes...wel majestic! i really like elizabeth loyacano. ever heard of her?
