This is what jazz is about and jamming, drinking while creating, expressing something raw and visceral... at your boys house; who happens to be passed out stage right.
Their ''power'' reminds me of afro-cuban jazz groups mixed with Balkan music expressions..mainly they use some of afrocuban-jazz indioms in their music...amazing group!!!!
from wich album is this track i already got pimp of the year and pimpoin. the way the bring the massive energy combined with some kickass way of playing is just to great
Music is a way to make Emotions "sound", thus something is more Music if contains more real emotions both in the music itself and in the performance. You can be passionate about you're work and you can be PASSIONATE about you're work!
I went out and bought this album cuz they are so dope. The channeling of cats like Horace Silver, young Herbie, Lee Morgan, etc. into something completely new will bring tears to your eyes if you are a real jazz fan. Forget the hiphop samples, forget the pseudo jazz BS that is put out nowadays, just go straight ahead. Kudos to Soil and Pimp, there isn't a better definition of "keeping it real" than this ....
It's true, they've got some of the best jazz albums I own -- no matter how "pimp" they look. What's great is the way they throw our concepts of genre out the window. Right on. Even Jimmy Smith Root Down isn't as funky as they can get
yea man these guys are awesome. I got their Pimp of the Year album. It's terrific and addicitn gto listen too. I find it to be a bit timeless as well. It's like classic jazz back in the day, hints of big band and stuff like that, but with a big modern twist. These guys are awesome. I'm wondering what you would consider to be pseudo jazz?
lt's like a drug but everything they do sounds beautiful!

Greg Osby once said that Jazz Hip Hop was a born dead child. This music shows it's still out there, alive and kicking

Music -
1. an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and dynamics.
2. sounds organized to have melody, rhythm, harmony, and dynamics.
Now which part of that definition is not found in their music?
I'm sure if you actually did listen to the music you'd understand the concept of what 'it' is.
I guess if they played a trumpet or wailed on a stringed instrument as fast as they could in their songs, that's music
