The original ride was much longer...you can see one of the fade cuts in the lungs...it was a great concept that got a bad wrap due to its simulator...the queue was bland and didn't feel like Disney...
This ride was a bit scarier than star tours. Star tours to me as a kid was whimsical I kept asking when will he ever go the right way? but here the crew seemed genuinely freaked out like "Pressures too strong rudders won't respond!" so everything was a bit chilling, and then u add the roughness, making this one of my faves. Also one time It broke as they counted down it went 3-2-1 *black screen* which was funny.
I remember riding this when I was young, I think 4 years old. I remember it shook me around a bit, maybe due to my height. But, I barely remember that entrance line.
I'm sorry to see this ride is now closed. I pretty much know a lot about the human body, seeing I am a heart patient.
I think that Tim Matheson, Dakin Matthews and Elizabeth Shue did pretty good in the roles of this ride.
Despite it's all closed off, I wonder if the props and all are still back there at Epcot...
yes. Nothing from Cranium Command and Body Wars has been moved, YET. I heard they might be using the Body Wars simulators to test and use for Star Tours II
This ride was fantastic,but---as we glimpse in this video---the queue area was BORING.NOTHING to look at but plain blue walls---which,if you happen to be in an ungodly long line---
---which I WAS---
can drive you crazy!I mean, compare it with Star Tours queue area and see what I mean.
It was a prety fun ride. The only problem was the nauseating effect some of the scenes caused. Although it used the same system as Star Tours, it caused more motion sickness. Other than that, it's awesome.
Body Wars opened in 1989, the film for the ride was likely to have been bade long before the ride's completion (even up to a few of years). Voyager aired long after that.
star tours was there the whole time at MGM even when this ride was open & this body wars ride does open but its only open during the Christmas season, i know so cause i talked to someone down there today & they told me this
That's a good guess, since Star Tours and Body Wars are built using the same ride system. Body wars opened at Epcot's "Wonders of Life" pavilion in October 19, 1989. The Pavilion is still there, along with whatever is left of body wars. Star Tours opened at the Disney/MGM studios (Two months later) on December 15, 1989, where it still runs. I've lived near Disney World since I was born, and have visited there over 200 since 1986. Trust me, they're two seperate attractions.
My brother visited WOL at Christmas time, and he said that the insides have been pretty stripped down. The Body Wars sign and paining seen in this video have been completely removed. Hopefully whatever takes the spot will be just as cool.
We can only hope. The problem with the "Wonders of life" pavilion was its poor location and lack of advertising. Hopefully, they'll do better with making the new pavilion easier to spot from a distance (cut down some trees) and make the pavilion more attractive from the outside.
when i was there in epcot for a field trip i totally missed this ride and am glad you posted it thanks.

Leonard Nimoy directed "Body Wars", so I wouldn't be surprised if that has something to do with his spot on Voyager.

WHY THE HELL DID THIS RIDE CLOSE???
connorman101 3 years ago 2
MetLife sponsored the "Wonders of Life" pavilion from its opening in 1989 to June 2001. After that, Disney was on its own.
When a sponsor drops an attraction there are 3 options:
1. Disney finds a new sponsor for the attraction.
2. Disney keeps the ride going on their own cash.
3. If the ride isn't popular enough to keep it running, Disney closes or tares down the attraction.
Sadly, a cult following isn't enough to keep a ride alive. It will be missed.
