Making judgments after the fact (via video & so forth) will always be happening... but... yeah. It's hard to make the calls real-time.
Then add in: calls that one doesn't understand (b/c the director is "higher level")... calls that are *VERY CLOSE* (no matter how you slice it)... calls that are simply mistakes (!!)... and there you have it--very tough!
One call I personally APPRECIATED... was 3:04 to 3:06. A lot of directors don't give redoublements when people pull dist. & don't riposte.
@greytale tim missed a counterattack after ben missed his attack. some directors will give it to tim, some will give it to ben. as long as it is consistent both calls are correct
@CyrusofChaos I understand what you are saying, but... I disagree to many extents. Tim missed the timing of a riposte (not c-attack in my eyes)... and this touch should ALWAYS go to Ben if the timing and footwork shown is the same in the next case.
What happens these days is... there really "is no such thing" as a remise, reprise nor redoublement (at least in sabre). Sure, sure... they are "in the manual"... but they are no longer given 90% of the time... :)
@jbujko@lijukherrecker you could be right but this it a touch that you see a lot. when both fencers stop together and then one makes a lunge and hits first like ben did but tries to do the close-out and the other fencer finishes slower but still gets a light, for some reason it looks like the person who hit second was just finishing with the counterattack. its kinda of a bizarre touch but it happens a lot
hmmmm..... I couldn't tell did he get the Parry Two Reposte? =P

I agree with jbujko Morehouse stood for a sec and it seams as he stopped the attack while doing this. Then it would be Igoe's attack so his point.
But a fantastic appearance of Morehouse at the end, he is a real fighter!

Shouldn't the 0:32 be a pointt for Igoe?
