And there is no evidence anywhere that Huckabee based his clemency decisions on faith. In fact, Huckabee said he was more suspicious of convicts who claimed to 'see the light'. I believe your bias against religious folks colors your perception of Gov. Huckabee.

The cig tax is expected. Its gonna happen in most states. Some 2,3,4 times. 505 million increase in taxes. Look at the numbers, most of that is cig tax. $2 increase times # of smokers times # of packs a year. And gas makes up the other part. Which we waste too much of anyway. Ride a bike once in a while. You need to stop getting your definition of conservatism from your TV. True conservatives feel the Fed Government has no right to preach to us. The issue of marriage is a state issue. In fact the government should not be in the marriage business. They should only issue contracts for the purpose of property division and such. Mike Huckabee would have been a great democrat a few years ago before the democrat party was completely taken over by communists.

zrunner - Ron Paul sent out a newsletter in the 1990's claiming all black males were criminals. He vetoed all anti hate crime laws that would help gays against crime for being themselves. He sent newletters out encouraging colleges to let the students to bring guns to school. He will elimate ALL fed protection as president and tell all Amercians to stock pile up on firearms for protection. Even programs to help dire children in need he will cut completely. Huckabee pardoned over 1000 criminals while in office (including 12 murderers). Huckabee supported and CURRENTLY supports tuition tax payer benefits for illegal aliens. I'm sorry, but we can't have the Huckster as our president, he's still a good man, but his record is horrible.

You have been misinformed, and CNN misrepresented the information. It was a $505 million SURPLUS that he left for the next governor- that's what I call balancing the budget! And again, Huckabee NEVER spoke of a "quarantine" but stated there should be isolation. In Africa, over 70% of people in come nations have aids. You tell me what's more offensive-the disease, or the rhetoric? There is no cure, people are dying! We need to save people! Huck understands the weight of the issues.

During his years as governor, Huckabee granted clemency an average of about once every four days.
