It's a take on how infomercials try to make whatever they're selling look good by showing off a bunch of things that look impressive on TV but you'd never actually need in real life. The idea is it's a better rake because it can pick up an anvil, but it's ridiculous because that's not what rakes are for. The Ginsu knife commercial did this by showing it cut through a tin tan. You'll never need to cut a tin can in half with a knife, but this was their selling point.
