No, they are very different. Yamamoto's and Hamano's arrangement completely changed the tone of the composition and was not half as good as Tanaka's original. It was the only one in ZERO MISSION that disappointed me, the others were all very good.

And while I enjoy the overwhelming majority of Pascal's performances, I didn't like this one because of that very reason: It fails to keep the original intent intact (then again, Pascal always says it's his "own interpretation").

The arrangement was different, yes, but it certainly wasn't bad because of it. It just gave Norfair a different vibe than the original, something closer to Super Metroid in a way.

Yeah, the original doesn't get as much props as Lower Norfair, but it still works. The haunting choir and tribal drums definitely gave it a more ominous, ancient feel, which still fit the level in my opinion, even if it was different.
