I havn't played one yet, but as long as it doesn't cut back on the tone I see no reason why it should be any heavier or bigger.

how do guitarists do the string scraping and hit a note like zakk wylde and stuff, ive seen many do it, sorry if i cant really explain it, its like you sweep the strings but palm muted and you hit the note you want then

What the hell? Les Pauls are fat, heavy guitars. If you want a light guitar, buy a Strat, don't cut away at a Les Paul.
