  • Perfect tone. Perfect rhythm.

  • Hope you've got a day job

  • How long did it take you to learn that? I know the words, and the guitar part, but i just can't get the two put together!!! It's tough for me.

  • Awesome! Check mine out? X

  • Awesome job!

  • Yayy! Someone who didn't F*ck up the Guitar! Voice is pretty awesome too! I'd say only problem is timing here and there, but very unique!

  • veryy nice

what's the strumming pattern for the chorus?

  • haha Got the same gold medal photo!

  • awesome job.. as many have said, not perfect but i love it because you arent afraid to put some power into your voice. everybody else on youtube who is afraid of sounding a bit off key just mellows it out and it ruins the song.

    keep it up man.

  • good job, plus great team canada 2002 hockey gold medal photo in back ground.

  • @greatbritton1986 Thanks! and just so you know, I have the 2010 poster as well!

  • great job, not perfect but that's good - you made good use of your ability to make the song more your own rather than copying someone else's work exactly yet remained true to the original. most times singers do this and it ruins the song - you pulled it off well.

  • heeey can u put the chords up and how you played it pleasee :) your sooo good btw!

  • Thanks, I appreciate your honesty. Keep practicing and you'll be playing this song with ease before too long.

  • Wow very nice, I'm not going to say I prefer it over Dallas's version, but this is a really tough song to play while singing, I know cause I'm trying to learn it, so props bigtime on that dude, your guitar work was really good.

  • you got a great voice lol

  • Love your phase from chorus to verse. that was awesome.

  • So jealous you can sing this man D: , I wish I could sing Dallas, he's fucking awesome.

  • you bare a strange resemblance to Dallas minus the beard.

  • good rendition

  • I really like your voice

  • @HitsSB Thanks!

  • hay man i can pritty much play the verse perfect but i can't figure out what the chordes for the chorus are help me out dude

  • I'm guessing you were compelled to learn this after the 09 NHL playoffs closing montage used this song?

  • @countrygentleman10 HAHA, Not at all actually, but I can see why you guessed that. I'm just a big fan of Dallas.

    Thanks for watching

  • @ryanmurphy15 city stole my fucking team. I can't ever respect Dallas.

  • one of the best covers i have heard, well done man

  • hey very beautiful :)

  • lovely<3

  • this guy even looks like dallas green

  • awesome!!

  • How can people not get the strumming pattern just by listening to it?

  • what is the strumming pattern? iv been trying to get it for DAYS!! would help greatly! thanks.

  • i was reading the info on this...

and i must make a small correction... this is not a band from canada... city and colour is an artist...

but i love the sound of that guitar, what is that???

  • Hey, You're right. I made this cover before I knew too much about him.

And my guitar is an Alvarez. Not an extremely popular brand but it's got great sound and playability. Durable as well, considering the guitar is about 30 years old.

  • @pownegpuppy

Yes but he is also in a band called Alexisonfire.

  • @pownegpuppy actually, he has a band that plays with him.

  • @pownegpuppy ok im guessing your right on that they are not from canada, "Which i thought they were". but then can anyone explain to me why they would spell "colour" the canadian way? cause i thought in the states or where ever else they spelt it "Color". I thought canadians were the only ones that spelt it with the "U"

  • @wildone699 City and Colour (i.e. Dallas Green) is from Canada. I think you misread pownegpuppy's comment.

By the way, you have some good covers on your channel

  • @ryanmurphy15 ya looked it up myself and i did missread his comment, he is from canada you are right and that explains the spelling of colour.

P.s thanks been trying to record some newer stuff but been super busy these days! gonna try my hand at a few Dallas Green cover soon! see what happens!!!

  • this is an awesome vid! good job and I love the music from canada! I loveour bands, it just feels really cool to listen to people from here ^u^ idk its awesome! great cover! *thumbs wayyyyyyy up!! takes guts!*

  • @TheShineInHisEyes, Thanks. Yea, there are so many great artists from Canada.

  • @TheShineInHisEyes Same here XD, i live in Ontario Canada. i know only 2 bands from Canada and 1 of them is City and Colour and i think Nickleback is another 1.

  • haha awesome, no uhm... theres a lot of bands from canada that are just epic... *does not like nickleback... >BC* surreh but I do like City and Colour... like alot of bands hehe, alot of different types too.. hmms.. anyways, :P

  • teehee not to be mean but, leafs.... mehehe *can't help it! gotta give in to rivalry!!*

    HABS ARE BETTER!! OuO *teehee*

  • this is awesome.

you should make a tutorial for this!! I can't get the strumming pattern right.. :(

  • Cool. Good job. In the chorus for the first chord i play a c with a low g instead of high g. sounds cool, try it out. matter of opinion. 5 stars.

  • By my calculations, you have the most instructive version of this on the entire internet. Thanks and sweet job Mr. ryanmurphy.

  • Thanks

  • Great job job brotherr.

  • awesome cover ;)

  • yo man this is a great video! I just started playing like 3 weeks ago and i just could not play thos chords right but i can now thanks your vid helped alot:)

  • whats the chord after the g?

  • I believe the name of the chord is G/F#. All that means is F# is your bass note so the chord is tabbed like 2x0033. Thanks for watching and have fun playing this tune. It's a fun one to play.

  • Very good! Your timing is great. If you don't mind I would recommend that you take some singing lessons. You need to sing more from your abdomen, your singing pitch is to high/whiney. Vocal Master Class With Renee Grant Williams helped me out...ps you can find it online for free ; )

  • Hey, I am aware of what you are talking about. I think I have progressed since this video, as it is from about six months ago. Thanks for watching, and the advice. I will definitely look up those free lessons!

  • Hey, what site can i download that dvd from? :)

  • hey can you make another video step by step so i can learn please?

  • Hey, you have probably already learned this song by now since it's been about a week. If not though, there are plenty of others who have given tutorials on youtube.

  • this is awesome. you really did a good job. i love this song. and watching you play it is helping me learn it. thank you:)

  • hey dude

that was a really good cover

makes me want to pick up my guitar again :) thanks for the inspiration

  • sweet job dude the tabs for this song suck online but was great picking it up by watching.

  • Hey Hey!, That's what I like to hear. Glad it helped. I never bother with tabs anymore. If there is something I just can't figure out by ear, I just youtube a cover of the song. It's much better. Anyway, thanks for watching

  • that was amazing!

its really hard to sing and play at the same time

  • great job dawg;D is it hard to play?

  • No song is hard to play once you learn how to play it! The 16th note strumming was quite tricky to learn though. Thanks for watching.

  • This is one of my favorite songs to cover! You did an amazing job (:

  • great job

    love this song

  • Great job man. Not an easy song to play and sing.

  • Thanks

  • man fucking GREAT cover :)

  • Excellent cover. The strumming is spot on; but, it's killing me. Can you give a quick up down up etc. for us that are still struggling? And what's the chord you are playing at the beginning of the chorus?

  • For the most part it goes like this: down, ,down, , ,up, down, up, , up, down, up, down, up, down, up.

Make sure to keep your arm at a steady rhythm. It took me awhile to figure out the chord at the start of the chorus as well. It is a some kind of suspended D chord. Just slide up a C chord two frets and that's it. Hope that helps.

  • it sounds soo amazing after the chorus when u spead up

  • great cover! (:

  • this helped me out so much compared to the tabs i found, brilliant job with everything. City and Colour is amazing, and this is an amazing cover

  • Thanks!

  • This is really good, the guitar & your voice sound nice, ignore peoples negative comments :)

  • Thanks so much

  • dude your strumming like a retard, play with more grace.

  • I think it might be that my camera has a low frame rate that makes it look that way, but thanks for watching and giving your feedback. It is appreciated.

  • im still trying to get this one down, you nailed the part after the chorus when he speeds up the struming, good job!

  • Thanks. It took me a little while to get that 16th note strumming down, but I'm glad I did because it sounds pretty cool.

  • smooth chord transitions, voice in key, nicely done sir

  • Thank you captain! I'm glad you liked it.

  • great job man,

  • great

  • badass dude. Keep it up.

  • good =]

  • nice...

  • Thanks!
